U.S. Media Desperately Trying To Protect Image Of Obama as Putin Outmaneuvers White House….

The New York times deposits a story today titled “Pressure Rising as Obama Works to Rein In Russia“.   The generally sympathetic article toward Obama is being cited by numerous politicos while the left-leaning media are circling an almost bizarre wagon to prop up the perception of Obama as strong.

Maya_Angelou_Obama_600MSNBC’s Mark Halperin is winning so far in the over-the-top water carrying category by stating that Ronald Reagan never faced a Russian adversary as strong as Russia’s President Putin:

The political analyst and author also cited a New York Times report published Sunday that said in her call with President Barack Obama, German Chancellor Angela Merkel raised doubts about Putin being in touch with reality, saying he is “in another world.”  Halperin called it “the scariest thing I’ve seen in the last 24 hours.”

“President [Ronald] Reagan never faced a Soviet leader like this. This guy is ruthless,” Halperin added.  (link)

{ Slobber – DRINK – Slobber }

However, what Mark Halperin, and the rest of the media, fail to see in the Times article is the evidence it holds for the ineptitude of the White House.

President Barack Obama hosts a working dinner in Laurel Cabin during the G8 Summit at Camp David, Md., May 18, 2012. Seated clockwise from the President are: Prime Minister David Cameron of the United Kingdom, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev of Russia, Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda of Japan, Prime Minister Mario Monti of Italy, Prime Minister Stephen Harper of Canada, and President François Hollande of France.

Halperin notes the comment from Merkel about Putin – yet he never stops to ask himself: should the White House be leaking to the media the comments of Germany’s head of state in regard to the perception of the current crisis creator.   Think about it?

Here’s the paragraph as an example:

The Russian occupation of Crimea has challenged Mr. Obama as has no other international crisis, and at its heart, the advice seemed to pose the same question: Is Mr. Obama tough enough to take on the former K.G.B. colonel in the Kremlin? It is no easy task. Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany told Mr. Obama by telephone on Sunday that after speaking with Mr. Putin she was not sure he was in touch with reality, people briefed on the call said. “In another world,” she said.  (link)

Why is the New York Times being told the personal opinion of Chancellor Merkel regarding the Ukrainian crisis and psychological behavior of Vladimir Putin?   Did they check with Merkel first ?  Did they consider that Secretary Kerry is arriving in Ukraine tomorrow ?   Did they think about how Putin would receive such disparagement?

This is nothing but inept High School diplomacy, where we point out the opinion of other popular kids -as they review troublemakers- in an immature effort toward bolstering our own peer image.

The only thing this approach reflects is a profound stupidity, yes – stupidity, on behalf of the international leader, President Obama, trying to form a coalition and address a crisis while shooting his hopes at influence with his administration’s mouth.

The U.S. and our allies fear a military outcome.   All viewers admit we are at a dangerous crossroad;  yet no-one in the administration is mature enough to tell those being briefed that disparaging Putin with attacks against his stability will only serve to put him in a position where he has more motivation to prove his resolve.   Really?

Obviously not in this White House – more than likely Denis McDonough, the most probable root of the leak, doesn’t even connect the dots nor understand a basic principle of crisis avoidance:

Namely,….  Do not create a self-fulfilling prophecy.

putin obama

Or, in more mainstream linguistics – Don’t poke the bear !

Certainly he should, if it’s his mission to destroy anything that’s left of America’s relationship with Germany. Looking at it from that perspective, it makes perfect sense.

Merkel is many things, but she seems pretty grounded in reality. She certainly understands realpolitik and that the issues in Ukraine n Crimea are not “out of touch with reality”.

Judging from news reports out of the Ukraine, Russia doesn’t plan on stopping after taking the Crimean Peninsula without firing a shot. Some reports say that the Russians my be planning to advancing into adjacent territory in the Ukraine.

This is the MSM/s attempt to make the POtuS look better by portraying the POtuS as a skilled international negotiator dealing with am unpredictable madman. Much of the electorate was not that sentient during the latter phases of the Cold War and have no idea of what previous presidents faced so to many, especially those on a post-Oscar high, the BS will stick.
DemocRATS are too busy on their red-to-blue campaign to go into overdrive on this, they’ll let their dawgs in the media carry the water for them. In any event Obama’s a lame duck (I get credit for avoiding the pun there) and Hillary’s in the chute so the mud that splashes on him won’t stick to her as long as she stays in hiding.
Right now I’d watch to see if Germany starts to increase its military spending, citing tensions in the East as a basis. Germany’s about the only military power in Europe that Russia has any concerns over and I’m sure Russia’s latter day Rote Kapelle is keeping a close watch.

The US will abrogate all treaty and surrender in order to avoid any action at all. They will blabber about sanctions on Russia that no one will go along with. The English have already said they will not follow with Obama’s silly sanctions. Nobody will touch Obama with a ten foot pole. He is a pathetic marxist boob.

That’s the name of the game. Just like the Three Stooges the West will point in each others’ directions, blaming the guy on the left while saying they’re waiting to see what the guy on the right will do. They’ll toss this hot potato around until the issue cools, public interest fades and then go on to the next crisis. No one wants to be a leader, everyone wants to be a follower to avoid blame. The entire ‘free world’, if you’ll excuse the expression, is going to sit back and dither. Reagan would have been decisive and the rest would have meekly followed – at a distance. Reagan’s actions imploded the USSR while the Europeans all channeled Henny Penny. Reagan gathered the warriors while this clown-in-chief draws the eunuchs.

And while this incident occupies the media, little is being said about the situations in Syria, Egypt, Iran, Libya, South Sudan,or Venezuela.

Soon it will be easier just to write a list of countries where Obama’s inept international “diplomacy” hasn’t eff’d everything up.

Oh yeah, but Russia would have to overfly a number of old Bloc countries that might not take too happily to Russia using their sovereign airspace – and might use their interceptors and AA systems. Germany also has an impressive antiaircraft capability and Russia would have the problem of making sure it didn’t hit US aircraft commingled with FRGs. That would generate a strong letter of warning from our Sink…errr…’CinC’.

too late to spend on a military. What they need is RIGHT NOW. It takes time to build tanks, aircraft and all that. Moreso, it takes even more time and cash to build capable crews and technicians. All the gear in the world is worthless without trained, competent and experienced crews and the staffs to back it all up.

Whichever idiot wrote that piece is a victim of a propaganda effort that utilizes agent provocateurs inside of the Ukrainian protest movement. While I have no doubt that there were elements inside the protesters that sought to seek profit or political gain for different factions,I seriously doubt that there was any significant number of neo-nazis among them.

Total civilian losses during World War II and German occupation in Ukraine are estimated at seven million, including over a million Jews shot and killed by the Einsatzgruppen. I’m fairly certain the Ukrainians have not forgotten their suffering under the Nazis, and would not widely welcome any such group ever again.

The other part of history is many Ukrainians fought for the Germans against the Soviets and Stalin. This is a part of the reason some Ukrainians seem “Nazi leaning” .The country has a diverse history of ALL countries abusing them. It is the gateway to Europe and to Russia.

The Soviets starved Ukrainians and the moved native Russians into Eastern Ukraine and Crimea. The FACT that the Holodomor happened is why there are so many ethnic Russian and Russian leaning sympathizers in Crimea and Eastern Ukraine areas.
