Russia Gives Crimea Forces Ultimatum: “Surrender by 5am Or Face Military Storm” !

Important notes:  •The deadline for force surrender is 10:00pm tonight.  •Secretary Kerry arrives in Ukraine tomorrow.  •Russia has declared  a new state: “The Autonomous Republic of Crimea“.

Vladimir Putin 5(Via NBC)  The Russian military has given Ukrainian forces in Crimea until 5 a.m. Tuesday (10 p.m. ET Monday) to surrender or face a “storm,” Interfax news agency reported.

“If they do not surrender by 5 a.m. tomorrow, we will start a real storm in Ukrainian bases in Crimea,” according to the statement sent by the Russians to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, a ministry source told Interfax. NBC News could not immediately confirm the report.

The ultimatum was attributed to Alexandr Vitko, chief commander of Russia’s Black Sea fleet.

Ukraine mobilized for war on Sunday after Russian President Vladimir Putin declared he had the right to invade his neighbor to protect Russian citizens.

The standoff in Ukraine has created the greatest moment of tension between Russia and the West since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, an event Russian President Vladimir Putin once called the worst geopolitical catastrophe of the 20th century.  (link)

A couple of days ago Anderson Cooper interviewed Major General James Marks about the situation in the Ukraine, and tried to portray what was happening as a “coup”.

Marks was quick to correct him:

    “Well, it’s not a ‘coup’, it’s an INVASION, Anderson…”

This is the type of ultimatum that leaders of the free world should be delivering to Putin:

“Withdraw your troops from Ukrainian territory, or face a military $#!t storm” but the rest of the world’s leaders expect America (like always) to “do the heavy lifting” for them.

Did Obama ever sleep off “Happy Hour”?

“Russian fighter jets have flown across the Black Sea, violating Ukraine’s airspace, The Russians testing, probing, pushing Ukraine, and pushing the West’s response.”.

Meanwhile, Europe’s borders are being redrawn by force. The big question is where these men will stop. Ukrainian troops have removed their weapons and there’s no indication they will oppose the Russians. Obama is now consulting with allies to determine what pressure to put on Russia’s President Putin. .

They will stop when they reach the end of the logistics. Then they will consolidate, reinforce and dig in. Russians are very good about entrenching. It is a skill American forces have largely forgotten as now the “hesco” barriers get put up to make little “patrol bases” and such. Russians use combat engineers for real and each soldier knows his shovel well.

Feb 28: Mr. Obama’s warns Russia to stay out of Ukraine with a strongly worded letter, followed by:

“Well, it’s Friday. It’s after 5 o’clock. So, this is now officially happy hour with the Democratic party,” the president told his cohorts. “I can do that. It is an executive action. I have the authority.”

An audience member then asked the president to “tell us about your plans for nuclear war with Russia.”

“What the heck are you talking about?” Mr. Obama said to laughter and applause. “No, no, don’t worry about it. We’re OK. Have a seat. I don’t know anything about that plan. I don’t know what you’ve been reading. Let me return to what I was talking about. See, he thought happy hour started earlier.”

March 1: Russia’s Parliament votes to establish military force and moves on Ukrainian troops, who have no choice knowing they have been overpowered already.

Happy Hour message from Silly Annie Barack sealed the deal for Putin.

Russia laughs and invades. Whereas, Russia was trying to move diplomatically, suddenly the dams burst after Barack’s childish antics at 5pm Happy Hour. Medev now promises bloodshed. Not only is Barack’s *warning* to Russia ridiculous, he is to blame for publicly encouraging Putin with his idiotic teleprompter-free verbiage.

You know, he really did look frightened. He has the same look and demeanor of a high school loud mouth who just realized he’s in a fight with someone who actually knows what they are doing, and he’s about to get his butt handed to him while all of his buddies watch it happen.

I believe he has finally realized the mess that he helped Obama create, and now realizes that his career is surely over. (You didn’t think he gives a darn about the Ukrainian people, did you?)

The fact that he stated he has no idea about those plans, THAT is what is scary as hell. He is supposed to be teh smartest guy in the room, and he has no idea of plans? It is embarrassing for this country to see him publicly confirm just how out of touch he is.

Does anyone credibly claim that the sole megapower has no inkling what to do in 2014 in case of such an event? If that is the case, what in hades are we paying these people for?

Sanctions per se are not really stupid and ineffective. You see, the sanctions were the last nail in the political coffin of Yanukovich cleptocratic regime — eo ipso its cleptocratic ideology “steal here, bring the stolen over there”. Russia is not all that different cleptocracy, albeit with some imperial ambitions. EU+North American sanctions will be effective there, like they were effective against Ukrainian government, and unlike their failure against Lukashenko’s regime in Belarus (the guy and his closest allies did not have sizable, and, for that matter, seizable, assets in the West, did not have their children living/studying in the West and so on).

Still no storming reports. But more and more reports this stuff was all planned for months or even years. Just take a look at Yanukovich appointing naturalized Russians and ethnic Russians from eastern regions into leading positions in the military/security service and police force. FSB/KGB infiltration sure happened there. There were talks in Moscow about Putin being up to something big right after the Olympics.
Also, the whole thing may have a very different meaning as opposed to the visible one (occupation of south-eastern parts of Ukraine, converting a unitary republic of Ukraine into federation or confederation and aligning parts of the said federation or confederation with Russia one way or another). It may also be, exampli gratia, about either laundering or making dozens if not hundreds of billions of dollars or some strategically important property pieces changing hands(something you can think of looking at all the turbulence over the markets, esp. in Russia).
It may also be an indication of the Kremlin dwarfs loosing some important part or parts of sanity, of course, and then — things are really bad. Nobody wants a serious military conflict with the Russkies.

The russkies claim the run-away president Yanukovich asked Putin to intervene to restore law and order and to protect the civil rights and liberties of Ukrainian people.

Cannot believe the Russkies are THAT stupid with their explanations. Ok, they still deem Yanukovich a legit president of Ukraine. Fine. Under each and every edition of the Ukrainian constitution (it did suffer some turbulence 2004-2014), just as well as the Russian constitution, for that matter, there is a mandatory parliamentary authorization (Putin requested parliamentary approval for use of military abroad, let us recall) required for any event whereby foreign military can be present in the country. It was, for what I understand, even required for relatively routine international military drills with the Ukrainian, Russkie and/or NATO participation. I do not remember the ukrainian parliament giving that consent — and neither does google.

    Is Putin loosing sanity?

I don’t think anyone is going to disagree that Yanukovich is a horrid human being. Putin will get major points in the next Russian election for what he’s doing now no matter what. Personally I am worried about the EU carving up whatever assets and resources are left to them by the Ukrainian oligarchs. I fear the Ukrainian people will have nothing regardless of how this turns out.
