Sometimes the only thing a person can do is to inform others the scope, size and propensity of the opponents armory – the listener can then judge for themselves what the enemy is going to do with it.

EnoughPaul Revere did as much when he spotted The Somerset, a British Man-O-War, resting in the bay of Charlestown – His mounted ride thereafter was written into the history of our Republic.
Today the enemy is more common; yet beholden of a similar stealth and specific intent.   Today the enemy is, as it was well predicted to be, the Washington DC political class.  More specifically the GOP establishment; and more specific still – the head of that class, Mitch McConnell.
Yesterday Harry Reid destroyed the 207 year old concept of “minority consent”, or the filibuster rule.   The Democrat pundits, those whose job it is to excuse and obfuscate, will deflect with such ridiculous propositions as to say:  ‘if minority consent was so important, then why was it not written into the constitution’.    The audacity for such a pontification generates a lack in my ability to stop the blood from reaching my eyeballs.
If, as the constitution outlined, the Senate were still a place where all legislation required a 2/3 majority;  and if, as the constitution outlined, the Senate were a body filled with representatives selected by State Houses instead of popular election – then perhaps such a democrat deflection would be intellectually palatable.    Alas it is not.
It is not palatable because passage of the 17th amendment took away the very intentional roadblock of the Republican framework that Jefferson spoke of when he called it a saucer to cool the hot emotional tea of short-sighted legislation.
It is not palatable because the constitution outlined consent as “two-thirds” (66), which has been progressively watered down to become “three-fifths” (60) as the majority rule;  and substantively,  as it now stands according to Harry Reid, one-half plus one (51).
Conversely as the majority threshold has been lowered, the minority threshold for blockage by consent has been raised.   From a constitutional “one-third” (33) to a ridiculous “one half” minus one, or 49 votes.
Yet why does Mitch McConnell allow such a usurpation to go unchallenged?
Because he is OK with it, that’s why.
Some folks would say that is an unfair characterization because there’s not much he can do.   Actually, there is, there is a lot he can do – you can read some of that via Red State.   The issue is he won’t do it.

Rather than focus on explaining what he can do, I wish to channel my inner Revere, focus on knowing the enemy within, and explain ‘why is McConnell ok with it’ ?
The Kentucky Senator is ok with it because he weighs all consideration against his own power, his “self-interest”.   Does this help him to retain power, or does it weaken his ability to retain power?   That is the filter of consideration for Mitch McConnell.
In this example McConnell considers the move from Harry Reid to be beneficial to his re-election campaign.
In McConnell’s mind his “valued tenure” now becomes “more important”;   ie. people will vote for him because he has the experience to re-establish what has been lost.
With the loss of minority consent the Senate ground is unstable now, and inside the mind of Mitch McConnell this creates an even greater demand for his statesmanship.
McConnell is relying on the principle of ‘you might not like him, but to defeat him in the primary may lead to a lost seat at the exact time when it’s possible to retake the majority’.
The McConnell plan/strategy is to create a scenario where voters are more worried to vote against him, than they are to rid themselves of his infection.
I have repeatedly said the #1 enemy for our Republic is not currently President Barack Obama – it is Mitch McConnell.     I swear this to be true.
If you want to see what’s going on you need to change your strategic thinking, wrap cloth around (muffle) your oar and slowly row to the Charlestown shore.     There, just beyond the trees, against the backdrop of the rising moon, you will see McConnell and his man-o-war team plotting, grinning, and maneuvering to control you.
McConnell is playing a strategic long-term, game of Machiavellian construct.  He did not support Ken Cuccinelli for that reason.  He did, and does, support Chris Christie for that reason.   He is attacking the Senate Conservative Fund for that reason.   He has dispatched his Chief of Staff to run the Republican Senate Re-election Campaign.  He has hired *Rand Paul’s campaign manager for that reason.    Everything he is doing is specifically intended to secure himself and his place of power.

He must be removed.
