George Zimmerman has been arrested in Orlando, FL after allegedly attacking his pregnant girlfriend, law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

According to law enforcement sources — which have been involved with the Zimmerman case since day one and have always been reliable — Zimmerman got physical with his girlfriend earlier today, who claimed she was pregnant.

Since she’s pregnant, we’re told the domestic violence charge is automatically listed as a felony. The Seminole County Sheriff’s website says Zimmerman is not eligible for bail. (link)

It was not immediately clear what happened or what crime he’s accused of committing, but just before 1:30 p.m., Sheriff Don Eslinger confirmed that Zimmerman had been arrested and was being driven to the county jail in Sanford.

He said more information would be available shortly. WESH-Channel 2 reported that Zimmerman was accused of domestic violence by a girlfriend.

The Sheriff’s Office, in a short news release, reported that the agency had arrested Zimmerman after being called to a disturbance on Topfield Court in western Seminole County near Apopka about 1 p.m. Zimmerman’s new girlfriend, 27-year-old Samantha Scheibe, lives in the 1300 block of Topfield Court, according to an unrelated Lake Mary police report.

[…] Seminole County officials had not released an incident report by mid-afternoon, explaining what happened today. The Sheriff’s Office website did not list what criminal charges were being leveled against Zimmerman but noted that he was being held without bail.

All domestic violence suspects are held without bail in Seminole County until they make an initial appearance before a judge, who must decide whether there is enough evidence to support the arrest and whether the suspect should be granted bail.

Presumably Zimmerman will appear before Seminole County Judge Fred Schott tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. in Sanford and learn more about the case against him and whether he will remain locked up.

Chris White, chief of operations for the State Attorney’s Office in Sanford, said he had received no paperwork from the Sheriff’s Office, detailing what happened but that if the case involves domestic violence, he would likely ask that Zimmerman be barred from having access to guns, should a judge allow him to go free.

[…] According to Shawn Vincent, a spokesman for defense attorney Mark O’Mara, “Mark O’Mara is not representing George Zimmerman in today’s matter,” won’t represent him in any other new criminal complaints and “as such, it is not appropriate for him to make any comment.” (link)
