Sunlight ! Benghazi Truths Start Leaking Out Ahead of Wednesday Scheduled Hearings – Things Heating Up – Update: Carney Questioned

Something is totally FUBAR with this reporting. I can’t figure out where the disconnect is yet. See the bottom after the article:

(Via CBS) The deputy of slain U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens has told congressional investigators that a team of Special Forces prepared to fly from Tripoli to Benghazi during the Sept. 11, 2012 attacks was forbidden from doing so by U.S. Special Operations Command South Africa.

The account from Gregory Hicks is in stark contrast to assertions from the Obama administration, which insisted that nobody was ever told to stand down and that all available resources were utilized. Hicks gave private testimony to congressional investigators last month in advance of his upcoming appearance at a congressional hearing Wednesday.

According to excerpts released Monday, Hicks told investigators that SOCAFRICA commander Lt. Col. Gibson and his team were on their way to board a C-130 from Tripoli for Benghazi prior to an attack on a second U.S. compound “when [Col. Gibson] got a phone call from SOCAFRICA which said, ‘you can’t go now, you don’t have the authority to go now.’ And so they missed the flight … They were told not to board the flight, so they missed it.”

No assistance arrived from the U.S. military outside of Libya during the hours that Americans were under attack or trapped inside compounds by hostile forces armed with rocket-propelled grenades, mortars and AK-47 rifles.  (read more)

Wouldn’t this have been General Carter F Ham?

General Carter F. Ham commanded U.S. Africa Command from March 9, 2011 until April 5, 2013 when he was succeeded by General David M. Rodriguez(link)

He previously went on record saying no request ever came:

Congressman Jason Chaffetz is on record stating that in his visit to Libya he travelled with General Ham.   When Chaffetz asked Ham about whether he had a ready reaction force, according to Chaffetz – Ham told him “yes, however, we never got a request to assist in Benghazi”.  (link)

Then there were reports Ham was replaced because he was unwilling to comply with a stand down order.   Initially I dismissed those reports.

The information I heard today was that General [Carter] Ham as head of Africom received the same e-mails the White House received requesting help/support as the attack was taking place. General Ham immediately had a rapid response unit ready and communicated to the Pentagon that he had a unit ready.

General Ham then received the order to stand down. His response was to screw it, he was going to help anyhow. Within 30 seconds to a minute after making the move to respond, his second in command apprehended General Ham and told him that he was now relieved of his command.  (link)

At the time we wrote about it HERE

So what gives?

I wish that was true, but something tells me that Obama really does not care unless there will be true ramifications against him, and that’s unlikely. There are too many Democrats in Congress that will stand with this Administration till Hell freezes over. Liars, all of them. Obama’s next move is to get “immigration reform” pushed through. The reason is that this will cost us over $6T dollars in benefits to illegal’s that, through legislation, become legal. In turn, this will overwhelm the nation financially and Obama’s dream of destroying this nation is fulfilled. He needs to be stopped…write everyone in Congress not to support this immigration crap.

The Administration and State will try to parse their way out of this one. Just looking at the ‘no one told anyone to stand down’ comment they could say that State and the White House were trying to get permission from Libya to fly their airspace and the situation was confused and moving too fats to get a handle on. SOCAFRICA was told to hold the launch as permissions were trying to be obtained and the mission could go as soon as permissions were obtained to overfly all countries twixt the launch point and the target. Of course this is Administration/State nicety and BS as the Libyan air force couldn’t stop the San Francisco Kite Team from overflying Libya and we overfly countries (hello, Iran) all of the time on spy mission without their approval.

They’ll say communications were misunderstood and the timing was off so – get the drift? There’ll be the inevitable mission and comms review that will find the need for better interactions between levels of command and decision making. The Administration will slam their cover story loudly and continually up against any other versions trying to beat the forces of truth and justice into a standstill that will not cause the Administration any loss of face – I look to their flushing straw dog or two from the brush to help bolster their position. They’ll try to keep the ball in the air long enough so that already flagging public interest drops even more. I’ve worked enough NEO-NISH missions to know that along with a mission oplan there are people working on blame assignment CYAplans in the background. The principals are dead, can’t save their asses, so the politicians will try to save their own. I’ve always felt that politicians should be forced to spend a few months living inside of the situations they’ve made a mess out of so that they could taste the dangers they’ve created first hand.

Whadayaknow! Every once in a while, Hillary utters something (however stridently) with which a thinking person can agree. “We are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration!”

I must confess, I’m still trying to get my head around this and getting a severe case of whiplash trying to do so. Because as Americans, it is our patriotic right and duty to hold an administration accountable for their policies. But yet, “What difference does it make” if we hold an administration accountable for how it functions?

We might just as well ask about the hit-and-run driver, what difference does it make that they left the scene of the accident? After all, what’s done is done. The pedestrian who was run over is dead. There ain’t no bringing that person back to life. So, why hang around for the investigation into the cause of the accident? Why ask whether the pedestrian stepped out in front of the car or whether the driver of the car was impaired and irresponsible? “What difference does it make?” Is that how I am to view the law?

Did someone else call in the “stand-down” order to Lt. Col. Gibson? Pretending to be from SOCAFRICA? And that was why Ham was replaced? Because he wouldn’t pass on such a treasonous order?

I’m sorry that AT piece will only be on display for one day. Even with regard to good information, there’s a point of overload: Read/absorb/think/make use of…..and then there’s a new plateful. We might start using the time-honored phrase, “these United States”, again. And related things like “all the united states”, “among the united States”. Play around with lowercasing “United” sometimes, to make people stop thinking of “the United States” solely as a compound noun, and rethink it correctly as a noun and an adjective.

Our country is individual, free-standing States which have united together. The states preceded the country. That’s a radical concept for many folks.

Difference here in the USSA is the moobats seem to really beleive it and will brook no arguement that runs counter to their late 19th century totalarian ideas.
The other difference is I don’t think the world has ever seen a 24/7/365 propaganda blitz that fuses ‘entertainment’, ‘news’ and ‘politics’ into one seamless barrage of BS like we have in this country today.

Get right down to it best part of 80% of this country is either brainwashed or neutered to the point they don’t have the critical thinking skills to see through the day to day conditioning anymore.

What’s going on in this country is well in excess of anything Orwell wrote of.

I’d ask my friend Judy from the Czech Rep — a wonderful woman who saw alll of this first hand, escaped that frying pan and jumped into the fire of the new USSA –, if she knows what a zek is, but she lost her husband a couple of weeks ago. She doesn’t need to cry any more than she already is.

I’d tell my friends what a zek is, but they’d mostly just tell me to shut up.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) said Monday that testimony that would be presented at this week’s Oversight Committee hearing on the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya last September would reveal that congress was “misled every step of the way” in the aftermath of the violence that left four Americans dead.

The Utah lawmaker accused former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of lying in her congressional testimony when she claimed that requests for additional security in Benghazi never reached her desk.

“Despite four and a half months, Secretary Clinton still came to the United States Congress and said that the people on the ground made the decisions about security. That never happened,” Chaffetz told “Fox and Friends

Well, I have a suggestion for Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah): He might want to consider at what level to express his newly discovered indignation, since a few million nobodies who are paying the bills in these united states knew from the git-go that they were being misled. We were screaming at the top of our lungs within days after the attack. Congress was content to just believe everything they were being fed. We were not. Why is that, Rep. Chaffetz? Seriously, why is that????

Why are you and all your cohorts willing to believe everything you are fed, when normal Americans all across the nation are screaming at the top of their lungs, …. they know a lie when they hear a lie and when they smell a lie? Are you stupid? Or incompetent?

Like I said, he might want to be a little careful about how he plays the indignation angle on this. And that goes for the rest of the clueless ruling class who will be living on taxpayer funds for the rest of their lives, very comfortably, I might add.

Just to give him some credit, Chaffetz has been working on getting information all along and was one of the first Congressman to fly in to Benghazi within days of the attack. He was one of the tougher questioners on the original hearings that involved Nordstrom, Wood, Kennedy, & Lamb back last fall. I would wager one main reason it has taken so long to get to this point is WH threats & red tape.

If he was not actually misled, why does he say he was? If he knew they were lying at that time, why doesn’t he say, “They intended to mislead us” or “They attempted to mislead us” or “We knew we didn’t have the whole story, and it has taken this long to get at it.” No. He includes himself as having been misled.

I have no trouble understanding why it has taken so long to get to this point. None at all. But it really bugs me that those who are at the center of this firestorm administration of lies that we are all suffering from are content to now say “We were misled….” Really.

Why are they so easily misled? I don’t think you were. I wasn’t. Why was he? Especially when he was one of the first to fly in to Benghazi.

The fact that they were already in country explicitly authorizes their engagement in defensive operations as direct combatants. The fact that they were already in country explicitly authorizes their engagement in offensive operations as ‘observers’ (which can include their planning the entire mission, but merely observing when plan meets reality).

I am really searching hard for Occam’s Razor here and all I can find is that is that party officials have been injected into the military command structure and have had apparent advance notice of the Administration’s official response to the ‘protest gone wild’ and acted accordingly.

BTW – Who was Ham’s second in command (who apprehended him) before Ham was told that SOCAFRICA’s mission had been rescinded?

Susan Rice comes out and says, “No, no, no, it wasn’t a terrorist attack. It was this video guy!” The president of Libya said, “You’re gonna call me out like that?” So he kept the FBI at bay and delayed their access to Benghazi, which hurt their investigation tremendously. All of this is pretty damning. Let’s go to the audio sound bites. Grab number 14. This is Bob Schieffer yesterday morning, Face the Nation. This is how he opened the show, and you will hear Libyan President Mohammed Magariaf and Susan Rice in this piece.

SCHIEFFER: (bouncy music) Today, only on Face the Nation, startling new details about the Benghazi attack from the number two American official in Libya. It’s been almost eight months since the attacks on the US consulate in Benghazi that killed US Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans. We’ll get new details today and more insight into the stunning contradictions between the president of Libya and ambassador to the UN Susan Rice when they appeared after the attack on Face the Nation.

Rush’s monologue fills in some bits for anyone who didn’t see Face the Nation yesterday where Bob Schieffer discovers, to his horror, that Susan Rice was lying last fall.

I’d like to find out if the chain-of-command were followed. The next higher headquarters for SOCAFRICA is USSOCOM at McDill, and USSOCOM would get its orders from the JCoS. There’s a solid black line directly from the JCoS box to SOCOM box and then to SOCAFRICA box – there are no dotted lines around any of the boxes. It is conceivable that the chain could be jumped and SOCAFRICA could get a direct order from the JCOS or the White House, – it’s also conceivable that you’ll see the POtuS at Communion next Sunday – but I seriously doubt it. Department of State is nowhere in the chain, it couldn’t send a command period. State has some say through its ambassadors while the military is in a foreign country but even then a major change in mission would have to be passed through the White House. Command Four star commanders are not very accepting of having bureaucrats go around them to give any subordinate under their command a…well…command. You go through them, not around them. There’s been a really quiet period after the relief of so many command officers in all of the services over the last very few years and not a peep out of the upper command staff about it. The order to bounce Gen Ham had to have gone through the regular chain unless there was some almost unfathomable reason the chain was breached. Problem is – the crickets are chirping. The upper echelons of flag officers are an ego driven bunch, especially in Special Operations, so I’m waiting with baited breath for one to retire who’ll blow the lid off of this. This just doesn’t sit right, there’s something that just ain’t right and it’s making a lot of people in uniform antsy.

I don’t know how to get it said….but you describe something here that I just have foggiest understanding of–the relationships between the civilian and the military, as governed by the protocols, the chain of command as tested over time, etc. —

“Knowing without knowing” that things are going bump in the night that nobody wants to talk about it really is unpleasant. Those who know ain’t talking, those who are talking don’t know ….and at some level, some of those who would like to talk aren’t sure who to talk to, when and where. A free nation with both strong military and strong civilian aspects to its government can only function if there is generalized trust–even if the depth of that trust varies from time to time–it has to be there.

I’m beginning to wonder how badly the military infrastructure has been impacted, cumulatively, beginning with the post-Vietnam mess, the Clinton years and now the complete undermining and disregard for normal order in all areas.

My brother who was career military would have told me to shut it down 12 lines back, so I’ll leave it be. But people not in uniform, including me, have been asking questions of those in uniform whom we know personally for going on five years now, and all I ever get is the distant stare, a courteous noncommittal response and absolutely no confirmation or encouragement of any kind. I used to think (believe?) that the Joint Chiefs were the line in the sand. Now I suspect they’re irrelevant, but I have no idea where their loyalties lie, or if they are shifting loyalties. Somebody needs to write a narrative history covering both civilian and military of these years sometime, and here’s the title:

      Violation of Oaths:The Obama Years

…covering the violation of military and civilian oaths of office at all levels.

Only ones to show up will be those flag grade or senior civilians fluffed and buffed by the services to testify. When you watch the testimony look directly behind the table the generals, et al, are sitting and you’ll see civilians, senior NCOs and/or junior officers who actually did the work. They brief the officer/civilian testifying but come in case there’s a question asked by the Congressional askers that the talker couldn’t answer. You’ll see quite conversation and notes being passed between the testifiers and their direct support at the table. The wonks behind the generals are the ones who actually did the work, it’s like the big daily briefs at the White house, Pentagon, etc. There’s a well-dressed, fluffed and buffed briefer who’s been briefed by the workers. The briefer briefs and the workers, as the experts, sit by to answer questions if any are asked by the briefees. As for ‘no man left behind’, there are some senior officers who would walk over a comrade for a promotion – just ask John McCain.

The first Coup d’état that I can remember was Friday, November 22, 1963.
The second was August 5, 1974 when Nixon accepted blame for misleading the country about when he had been told of the truth behind the Watergate break-in.
The third was January 20, 2009 when Obama was sworn in to the office of President of the United States. He has failed and refused to obey the law, enforce the laws and keep his oath of office.
The fourth may be May, 8th, 2013 if our elected representatives do not expose Benghazi for what it was and expose the Obama administration for the consummate liars they are.

Kill a President and in 50 years, not a single succeeding President, Senator or Congressman would/could speak the truth of those events.
Oust a President after he admits he mislead (lied) the public about his knowledge of political games played by both sides since time immemorial.
Clinton can’t remember which lie he told last, smokes cigars prepared in the Oval room taken from the vagina of an office staffer, give and receives oral sex in the Oval office and argues the definition of the word “that” in his infamous denial-he retires with just under $500M and she makes several million from interviews and books.
Clearly, Obama has re-defined the lie as “walking back.” His election demonstrates the willingness of the American public to tolerate (and re-elect) a President who is unfamiliar with truth and tries to hide his agenda for the destruction of America.

Our future lies with a largely corrupt and or spineless Congress and Senate. But if those few with the courage to stand up and fight for the principles, upon which this country was built, will do so, we could have a bright future. Otherwise, we will, when we can no longer tolerate the flaxen cord by which we are lead, will have to re-purchase our freedoms with blood.

At that point, it would have made a world of difference. Now, with all the responsible parties gone except for the president himself, it will make virtually no difference.

      Two thoughts:

Is Breitbart really that shallow that they actually think that what happened with Benghazi was just a perceived threat with regard to the 2012 election, and that sunlight on the issue no longer has any meaning? If that is what Breitbart folks think, then I guess they really don’t comprehend the danger our nation is in. If this kind of political calculation and strategic, deliberate internal destruction is allowed to continued the 2012 election will just be one of many footnotes, because this mess is no longer about obama either..

Secondly, within the article the point is made again along the lines of , Well, at least we can get closure and peace for the families of the Benghazi Four.……and I have a similar thought: this is no longer just about the families of the Benghazi dead, any more than the Zimmerman mess is about George Zimmerman. And of course, to anyone who smelled the rot in September, it wasn’t about the Benghazi Four and their families on September 12. Or September 13.

At this point, the obaMadministration would just LOVE IT if it can be made to be about the Benghazi Four…that can be their bail out: “Well, for the sake of the families, we will give you stuff we never thought we’d give you, under the condition by that Wednesday afternoon you agree to shut up and never bring this up again.” And Congress will agree, and then check the box off.
