DeMarquis Elkins, 17, and a 14-year-old male are both being charged with first-degree murder. The 14-year-old’s identity is not being released due to his age.

BRUNSWICK, Ga. — A manhunt continues for a teen and pre-teen shooting suspect in Brunswick.   Brunswick police are checking the attendance records of area schools to see who was missing or noted as absent from class yesterday.

A mother and her toddler were on their morning walk, when they were approached by two unknown teen suspects and shot, according to Brunswick Police Chief Tobe C. Green.

The 13-month-old male died from a gunshot wound and the mother was taken to Southeast Georgia Health System in non-life threatening condition for treatment a gunshot wound to the leg, Green detailed.

The Brunswick Police Department is, “aggressively and actively searching for the suspects,” according to Todd Rhodes with the Brunswick PD.

The teen suspect is described as an African-american male, approximately 5-foot-8-inches tall with a slender build. The suspect has curly hair and was wearing a red, long-sleeved shirt.

The pre-teen suspect is a African-american male possibly between the ages of 10 to 12-years-old, wearing a black shirt.

Multiple agencies are participating in the search including Brunswick Police Department, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Glynn County Police and a helicopter from the Georgia State Patrol.

The young suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction.  (read more w/ video)
