Convergence – It was Inevitable Drones Would Be Called Upon – First U.S. Human Hunted By Drones “Chris Dorner”…

drone11Ask yourself this question:  why would they need to use “drones”?    Think.   They are being operated over U.S. airspace.   There is no risk to the aviation asset being attacked, so why wouldn’t traditional search planes with FLIR be used?    Know what the real agenda is here…. the real goal…..  get you comfy (numb) with Drone Surveillance stories.

Christopher DornerAlso they just issued a $1,000,000 reward.   CALIFORNIA – Police plan to use spy drones in the hunt for a Rambo-style ex-soldier and policeman who has murdered three people and vowed to kill again.

They believe burly, heavily-armed Christopher Dorner is holed-up in the wilderness of California’s snow-capped San Bernardino mountains 80 miles east of Los Angeles.

The burnt-out shell of his pick-up truck was discovered in the nearby resort of Big Bear, where residents and tourists have been warned to stay indoors as the search continues.

Yesterday, as a task force of 125 officers, some riding Snowcats in the rugged terrain, continued their search, it was revealed that Dorner has become the first human target for remotely-controlled airborne drones on US soil.

A senior police source said: “The thermal imaging cameras the drones use may be our only hope of finding him. On the ground, it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack.”

Asked directly if drones have already been deployed, Riverside Police Chief Sergio Diaz, who is jointly leading the task force, said: “We are using all the tools at our disposal.”

The use of drones was later confirmed by Customs and Border Patrol spokesman Ralph DeSio, who revealed agents have been prepared for Dorner to make a dash for the Mexican border since his rampage began.

He said: “This agency has been at the forefront of domestic use of drones by law enforcement. That’s all I can say at the moment.”  (read more)

Actually I was just pondering last night why they were not using them, since we all know they have them.

The other day I saw a PBS special, probably nova or frontline, that was all about drones, including new technology in the camera that allows them to simultaniously videotape a whole city at one time, with the option to zoom into any specific location…..wow that was easy to find on google…this is what I watched:

Without getting into details, if he admits to a 6″ resolution I’ll guarantee that the resolution’s much, much better than that – there are commercial systems out there in space that have been talking 3-foot resolution, about the best the Feds are comfortable with letting these firms sell, and that was a few years back. . Also, if he says he can’t talk about its being deployed you can bet it’s been deployed – question is when will it become cheap enough to be deployed by other than the Feds? The hardware the developer used is one thing but what he scrupulously avoids mentioning is the software the system uses to integrate the separate chips and engineer the image’s resolution.

Disagree. He claims he has a 50 cal something or other rifle.
Also, a drone would be much quieter….they could track him without him even knowing…they could wait him out…watch him hide till he starves or succumbs to the elements. spend days following and planning..establishing when he eats, sleeps, poops.

that reminds me…..so LA did a gun buyback a while ago and it turns up grenades, flame throwers, fully automatics, and rocket launchers. No questions asked, and people get money vouchers. Something tells me the liberal approach isnt working, and is in fact hindering. How many unsolved crimes because they destroyed the murder weapon “no questions asked”????

Does he claim, or does the media claim?

I just can’t picture a guy lugging around a 50 cal while on the run. The damn thing along with all mounting, positioning platform, has to weigh well over 20 to 25 lbs… plus the ammo is super heavy and large (each bullet 6″ long). Dunno, I just cant see someone carrying that thing around and being “mobile”.

Makes me wonder just how long Dorner planed this.(if he did). I am having the hardest time believing that all of these incidents keep happening at or about the same time Obama gets resistance on something. If this drone finds Dorner (after everyone is made to live in fear, afraid of the police shooting them by accident or getting shot by Nutty Rambo) It will only help POTUS get approval. Bet he would love to have this man caught by this drone before Tuesday’s speech. This administration hasn’t given me any confidence that they know how to tell the truth or wouldn’t go to extremes to get what they want, Power.

I don’t think he’s an “expert sharpshooter either”.
I do think he has an ego the size of Texas, and he’s perpetually agrieved, from the day he was born to now.
Look at the people he did kill. They were easy targets. He’s not acquired a single one of those on his list. He’s also a liar. Doesn’t care about dying my ass. He’s a chicken on the run right now.

The more I think about it the less likely he is to be lugging that 50 around. And as for shoulder fired LAAW’s?…. again, highly doubtful. He would need some kind of transport system. Remember the initial rules of insurgent activity. 1. Communication – unless you are no return. 2. Transport – unless you are no return. and 3. Re-supply – again, unless you are no return.

So unless this guy is sitting still, in a defensible position, waiting for the Law to arrive. Then he’s mobile and non of the stuff the media is reporting is of issue.

A .50 cal Barrett would be lighter and more portable than the venerable tripod mounted M2. If Dorner could obtain the M1987A2 model that was designed to be used as a close range antiaircraft weapon he would have capability of engaging low flying aircraft. However; such capability would be very limited in range and altitude. He would be able to engage aircraft flying low enough for a shooter to engage him (unlikely to be effective without a gyro stabilized weapon mount) or the type of close observation that LAPD helicopters normally engage in but wut wouldn’t be able to engage higher altitude spotter aircraft.

For argument’s sake, let’s assume he does have a .50 cal – if he didn’t have the time or place to practice and become and remain proficient, it’s just a 30 lb brick he’s toting around.

The .50 cal is part of the meme. Remember how desperate the Progs have been to claim that anyone can get their hands on any dangerous weapon, so this is a great talking point for them. True or not true. All sorts of magical powers are going to be attributed to Dorner and he will be held up as another example of the need for ALL guns to only be in the hands of police. Military are disarmed while in garrison – which is why Hassan was able to slaughter so many of them so readily. Every military garrison in the US is essentially a giant “no-gun” zone.

The only people the Progs want armed – and armed to the teeth – are the federalized local police, who they own with long and tangled purse strings, and the new and “necessary” Homeland Security Forces, which will be a mixed bag. We should also be very proud that we have our very own DHS Youth Corps now. I’m sure that that is for our safety and well being.

There is so much to this “narrative” that is nothing more than convenient Prog talking points and strains any credulity, but I digress. The sheeple want to believe it because it’s a “thrill” and an armchair soap opera.

True, why bother? Hikers, hunters or Dorner, they’ll just send teams to intercept each signature. That is, unless they have a smaller drone (such as borrowed from the military or Guard) with a visible spectrum camera they could send in to get enough of a pic to confirm if it’s him or not. Let’s face it, not too many hikers or hunters out there this guy’s size, wouldn’t need too high of a resolution – black and white system would do. It’s looking to me like Dorner had this planned out long in advance and he has caches out in the area – this will be his Gotterdammerung.

    • It doesn’t matter if they have guns/missiles or not. It’s the whole idea that our government believes it has a right to use these things in domestic air space. And, if they find him, I’ll bet you they won’t try to bring him in alive. They’ll just call up a drone with munitions and use this as the first trial of their new authority to execute Americans without a trial. Watch for it! If not this time, the next.

We will never know if a armed drone is used or not. I think one thing is for sure he won’t be in front of a grand jury. He knows about drones so he will likely stay in a populated area so as to cause collateral damage if used.

I doubt that is going to happen here. The drones they are using are small surveillance drones not predators. The problem is that we call such a wide range of unmanned aircraft, “drones”. 99% of the ones used on US soil aren’t much different than the ones you can buy from Radio Shack.

        • It’s coming, whether you like it or not. The day the White House put out a white paper saying it’s legal for them to use drones to kill American citizens suspected of terrorism on US soil it was a red flag that we can start expecting to see it happen.

Five years ago, I would have said there was no way the US government would ever deny an American citizen due process by killing them and then Barack Obama ordered a drone-strike on Anwar al-Alwaki and my blinders came off. We’re not living in the same country anymore and our government is completely off-the-rails. A year ago it was the federal government acting overseas outside of the Constitution, today it’s the federal government acting domestically outside the Constitution. Tomorrow it may well be the LAPD, with federal authorization, denying a man committing an “act of terror” due process.

The slippery slope we’ve been on has been in avalanche for quite some time now.

Absolutely I recognize that. The point here is the small step principle. The slow boil of the frog. Why would a surveillance drone be needed? Don’t they have manned aerial planes with FLIR that can accomodate the same?

Given the recent release of the “oval office drone rules” which justify through the OLG the executive branch assassination protocols of U.S. citizens, this is alarming in the extreme.

At Ruby Ridge, an American family was targeted for assassination by the ATF and after the feds shot their dog, their son shot in the back, mom was shot holding a baby… few paid attention.

In Waco Texas women and children were assassinated by the feds using tanks and military vehicles…… few paid attention.

Yet, even before that, In Philadelphia, a small scale hydrogen based “firebomb” was dropped on squatters, the MOVE people….. few paid attention.

The government has a history of using individual examples to create and justify “massive security systems”….. TSA….. Dept. Homeland Security…. etc. etc. Domestic drone targetting is yet another example.

Ruby Ridge and Waco were disturbing abuses of power for sure.

The answer as to why use surveillance drones to look for someone like this? The answer is easy, they are cheaper, can get into areas other vehicles can not, and use less fuel. Are you opposed to the tactical robots used to go into hostage and bomb situations?

CBS senior correspondant John Miller is a former LAPD bureau chief. He reports some of his former colleagues are very anxious about Sunday night’s proceedings because of a particular line in Dorner’s manifesto, and the potential of a police force spread thin.

Dorner’s manifesto promised to target “command posts” like the one that will be set up for Sunday’s grammy award show. “I will mitigate all risks, threats and hazards. I assure you that Incident Command Posts will be target rich environments,” Dorner promised.

These “command posts” are small, major police posts set up to handle big events like Sunday’s award ceremony. “There will be the Grammys Sunday in Los Angeles, where you will have a major police command post,” Miller explained. “I’ve spoken with people there and their problems are very interesting. One problem is, can they get enough cops to police the Grammys, when they have had everyone out deployed on this? People are being called in on days off, overtime and such. But they believe he’s shifted from being the hunter to being the hunted.”
