Monday Open Thread – February 4th

Tomb of the Unknown ChristmasOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Basic. This brief synopsis is worth running by family members and friends–be sure they “get it.”

At the heart of the HHS mandate is the belief that the First Amendment does not mean what it says. To most the phrase

    Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

is pretty clear. It does not say freedom of worship, i.e. the right to go to church on Sunday or the temple on Saturday, as many liberals proclaim. It says that people can practice, i.e. exercise, their religious beliefs.

    • czarowniczy says:

Again, the Founders tried to make the Constitution as plain and simple as they could, believing that the people in their own best interests would use the powers given to them to control that bunch of necrotic outliers who are drawn to political power like flies to manure. Worked for a while and then too many became lazy and their self-interests became paramount over what was right. Who needs religion when we have the Cult of Personality?.

And the schools stopped teaching civics and American History. American exceptionalism was no longer a part of the American classroom.

        • czarowniczy says:

If my high school days in the early-to-mid 60s are an example they stopped teaching American History and started to teach American Leftist Progressive Revisionism.

    • Sharon says:

Idiots. This advice from the know-it-alls appointed by Teh Won who said, “They bring a knife to the fight–we bring a gun”… his advice to the citizens is, “A shooter brings a gun into your office–you get your scissor.”

      It’s all becoming quite plain.

      Isn’t it.

Yes. Imam O’Skeet shows us how.

More like a school of baitfish. Circle up in to a ball and try to get in the middle. You get to live a few more seconds as the predators pick off the easy targets first.

From time-to-time a though blows through my mind – latest is, ‘Anyone Heard From John Holdren Lately?”Is our own POtuS-approved still obergruppenführer in the Office of Science and Technology? Why is he soooooooo under the radar as to be virtually invisible? He can’t be so involved in population control measures that he’s unavailable for press meets at the Wewelsburg room at Camp David. We have all of these potential elderly and disabled Final Solution measures coming out of the Weiss Haus that Der POtuS can’t possibly have thought up himself, busy skeet shooting as he is, so why no credit to the Lagerältesters? Could der Herr Doktor have taken his earlier population control suggestions to heart and thrown himself into the Soylent Green hopper?

  7. michellc says:

This is another example of why I could never support Ron Paul.
    Ron Paul ‏@RonPaul

Chris Kyle’s death seems to confirm that “he who lives by the sword dies by the sword.” Treating PTSD at a firing range doesn’t make sense

    • Sharon says:

Just popping in to post that…I had wondered the day Chris died if some opportunist was going to bring that Scripture up.

I hope some Paulbots are a little dismayed…..just a little, at least??

      • michellc says:

You would hope so, but I wouldn’t bet on it, they seem to be too obsessed. I did have one explain to me one day what he and Paul stood for, at the time I didn’t really know much about Paul, so I didn’t know how much was what this man stood for and was speaking for what he wanted Paul to be.
Anyway according to him they stood against big government, which included the military, public schools and welfare, against laws, against war, against religion, for a woman’s right to choose, for gay marriage and for guns.
I told him well if that is Paul’s views, anti-military, anti-Christianity, pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage are a no go for me, so I’ll be choosing another candidate. He went from a friendly bubbly man to a bitter ranting lunatic.

Obama is promoting his new gun control plan in Minnesota. He is using children again. There is now a uniformed Sandy Hook childrens Choir and his ads have children begging for gun control. Disgusting.

    • maggiemoowho says:

I only counted one officer clapping for Obama as he was giving his speach and many did not look to happy. They only applauded when he finished and even that looked forced. I wonder if they had a choice to be there or were they forced to be exploited for Obamas agenda.

      • justfactsplz says:

I doubt they really wanted to be there. There were probably on duty and assigned to be there.

      • Sharon says:

Clinton came to Portland during the time our son was a LEO and he was assigned to be part of the guard during the “Porn King is coming down the street, everyone faint and scream and wave now”….he said the only thing that saved his sanity was that their duty was to watch the crowd…not watch the king…and they were specifically required to face the crowd. Being paid to show Billy his back was fine with him.

    • Sharon says:

Anyone who willingly allows their children to be used as his Potemkin Citizens should be popped upside the head.

    • cajunkelly says:

And yesterday those Newtown kids performed on the field with The Color Guard…who were bearing…(GASP) GUNS!

Did anyone *think* before putting those kids in that position?

Ted Nugent is giving Piers Morgan a run for his money over gun control. Piers actually shooting an AR-15, do tell.
