Constitution and Bible Flawed – Non-American Piers Morgan says: “Bible Should Be Amended To Allow Gay Rights”…

I didn’t think this guy could get any more insufferable. I was wrong.

(Via Mediaite)  On Monday, CNN host Piers Morgan invited Saddleback Church Pastor Rick Warren on his program to discuss gay marriage and the bible. Fresh off his feud with Second Amendment rights activists following his full-throated defense of stricter gun control laws in the wake of the Newtown massacre, Morgan inspired further outrage among the religious when he told the pastor he thought it was time for an “amendment to the bible.” In Morgan’s opinion, the bible, like the American Constitution, is “inherently flawed.”

Following a polite exchange between Morgan and Warren over what the bible does and does not condone, Morgan interjected to insist that the Christian holy book needs to be modernized.

“There is still an element of the bible that is flawed,” Morgan told Warren on his program, Piers Morgan Tonight.

“I do not believe the bible is flawed,” Warren replied.

“Both the bible and the Constitution were well intentioned, but they are basically, inherently flawed. Hence, the need to amend it,” Morgan continued. “My point to you about gay rights, for example, it’s time for an amendment to the bible.”

“No,” Warren replied.

“You should compile a new bible,” Morgan laughed.

“I willingly admit that I base my worldview on the bible, which I believe is true,” Warren said. “Opinion changes, but truth doesn’t.”

“We’re going to have to disagree on that,” Morgan said. He noted, however, that it was necessary for debates, both political and social, to remain civil in order to be constructive. (read more)

What a maroon. God doesn’t care what Piers thinks, fortunately.

  2. cajunkelly says:

This jackass is desperately seeking attention, just as a child “acts out” to get it. Unfortunately we can’t punish him like we would a BRAT child.

    Another possible scenario;

He’s being a media masochist. And how does one punish a masochist?

    One doesn’t.

    Ignore his filthy prog ass.

  3. Sharon says:

Piers is one of those fools who thinks GOD is an elective office and that He’s in need of the approval of a majority of human beans. He’s not.

Reminds me again of the verse in Psalm 2– “The Lord will laugh and have them in derision.” I cannot begin to imagine the actual experience of being LAUGHED AT by Almighty God. I’m suspecting Piers will be one of those who will be so schooled.

  4. Arkindole says:

Hmmm….I seem to remember that part…”is given by inspiration of God” (KJV)
Definitely off his meds…Now he’s telling you-know-who what to do…
    Just cover your eyes…and ears…

    Sorry but God doesn’t change.

John Lennox answers the question of the reliability of the texts,
using for example the New Testament @ 44:15

  7. tessa50 says:

amend the Bible, modernize it…so I guess he means lets just change whatever we don’t want to live by and then what? yep, that will escape Gods notice

  8. elvischupacabra says:

I’d just recommend that this fool read the last two verses of the Bible for the definitive answer on his suggestion.

    • Wraith says:

He’d have to learn how to read, first. Plus, if Morgan picked up a Bible, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised to see him explode or turn into a pillar of salt…

  9. dmoseylou says:

Here ya go, Piers. Just a suggestion; do a little research before an interview once in a while. Although, you will still spew like a fool, no doubt.

  10. Kimber says:

It amazes me that someone who does not claim to be a Christian is so insistant that the Bible be changed to meet his or the world’s standard of living. I believe that all of mankind knows that there is power in the Bible and realizes it’s significance, even if they are not Christians. The Word will stand, just as it is.

    • howie says:

Screw him. Cash out and batten down the hatches.

    • michellc says:

I often think those who claim to not believe in God are lying to themselves. Otherwise, why do they always try so hard to convince God’s people there is no God? Along with always wanting something they supposedly don’t believe in to mold to their way of thinking?

    • Sharon says:

…and his argument should cause us to think that “if only that part were changed” he’d be kindly disposed toward the contents of the Bible??? So then he WOULD be willing to acknowledge that God is Sovereign and utterly holy? Oh, wait–if that were changed in the Bible, then the verse that says “I am the Lord; I change not” would no longer be true so then God would be a liar, so then the whole thing comes down.

Which reminds of those who come with the olive branch that “Well, I don’t know that Jesus was really the Son of God, but He certainly was a good man….” Well, not really. If He was not the Son of God, then He was a liar who taught lies to His disciples; who then passed those lies on to others; and, if that is the case, many of the apostles and other un-named believers ended up dying for lies. Such a man could never be considered a good man, by any stretch–he would either be demonically deceived or a flat-out, deliberate liar who intended to deceive others. Nuttin’ “good” about that.

Oh, well, we should cut Piers some slack–I’m sure he’ll have some suggestions for changes in the Quran the next time he has some Fatwa-issuing muslim on, doncha think?

  11. BertDilbert says:

Does the modernized version of the Bible come with a centerfold of Obama?

    • Sharon says:

..I guess there actually are some modernized versions, where the truth has been cut out. –there some women’s libbers in some of the mainline churches who feel pretty much about God the way Piers does…they’ve had all sorts of “re-imagination conferences” etc. to “re-imagine God” and the Gospel. No telling what they have in the centerfold, but then of course, it’s just a bible (Greek for “book” or “books”) it’s no longer Scripture.

There’s no surprise here, Piers and his cronies live in a world where there are absolutely no absolutes. If something’s inconvenient, why you just change it to where it meets your current definition of what’s needed. Truth uncomfortable? Just twist it around until all the pointy parts are gone!Obviously the huge shuffling herd of mouth-breathing cattle out there, clinging to its guns and religion, just don’t get it, that’s why we need stick-up-the-ass superior Euro-trash like Piers to explain it to us.
