Wednesday Open Thread – November 21st

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Here’s specific information on the death of the Iranian who dared write an open letter to Iranian authorities, challenging their mistreatment of Iranian people. As Islamists do, they took him into custody. They tortured him. Until he died. On election day. ….oh, he was a blogger.

………..And, finally, I want to say to all those within and without Iran: How long will you remain neutral and silent? … How long will you [continue to] hope for reform? We must unite today – so that tomorrow we will have no regrets…

    My life is for Iran…

    Yes, it was.

Don’t assume that some future day will not put us under similar shadows, of varying degrees. Some have already paid a price. Some who post here have paid a price.

Those who depend on evil and deception to maintain their power will do what is necessary to silence those who speak truth.

    It is what it is.

  2. Sharon says:

Reading back over some notes I had taken during some reading, I came across this:

When Israel took East Jerusalem in 1967 and her soldiers wept openly at the wailing wall, it seemed that Jerusalem had at last been liberated from “Gentile domination.” Jesus referred to such a point in time in Luke 22:24 when he said, “And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.”

However…acting on his own, without official approval, General Moshe Dayan, apparently hoping to prove to the Arab nations that Israel had only peaceful intentions, turned the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Israel, over to the king of Jordan. In 1994, Jordan turned it over to the PLO.

  3. lovemygirl says:

Anyone peruse I just signed up to see the details they seem to exhaustively put together.

    • Oh heck yeah…. they do exceptional transcription and interpretation. They are definately a go to site for information you need to comprehend in English format.

      • lovemygirl says:

Thanks, Years ago I found them but forgot about them until now. Their TOS seems stick and I have an outstanding question to them that you might know. Any links can only go to their main page but I don’t know if I can copy & Paste parts of articles here by the TOS. Do you know?

        • I see portions of their analysis on numerous sites and have linked into their articles on occasion also, so I don’t think their TOS would defer you from pasting excerpts etc. with attribution. If they did have an issue they would contact us, which I doubt they would, fyi.

You can also send them stuff for interpretation also, they’re pretty good with responses.

  4. cajunkelly says:

Well DUH…what incentive do these former employees have to come to an agreement? These were most likely 18K obama voters, and they *know* he’s gonna take care of them now.

    They’ll just join the 47%.

  5. Sharon says:

I guess something is official now–have no idea what–just watching the rerun of Greta’s program from earlier in the evening and learn that Gloria Allred has been hired by one of the women from Petraeus’ Peyton Place. Good grief.

    • Wha??? Seriously….. Has she ever met a woman she could not exploit?

      • Sharon says:

Just covered the detail–apparently the person who retained her is Jill Kelley’s sister.

Greta said plainly that it’s always a problem when Allred gets involved, because in terms of other “legal players” in any situation, she’s always a wildcard. Unpredictable and self-interested to the max. Apparently Petraeus had been involved with some kind of letter or recommendation in a court case involving Jill Kelley’s sister regarding a child custody fight. Good grief. I may have mixed up the details here—I hope not. I’m not curious enough to check it out. There’s a whole bunch of people in this country who need to get a life.

Greta made the quite serious observation that it means less attention being paid to Benghazi. Oh, really? Gee, wonder whose interests are served by that little side effect.

  6. lovemygirl says:

    ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

    • Sharon says:

You know what’s weird: On the “managing comments” page (which I have access to as admin) your entries that show up “scrambled” here make a cute little face. I’m supposing the cute little face was what you were going for…so thought I’d just let you know it made it partway through the system, and got distorted at the last moment, I guess!

    • doodahdaze says:

Is that the inscription on Obamas wedding ring?

  7. Sharon says:

Islam promotes death and destruction. It’s a self-consuming and murderous evil.

Here’s a true thing about Islam that I’ve trying to “get to” in my thinking:

There is no “false god” in Islam because there is no god in Islam. Demons are the power behind the spiritual facade of Islam….and they are not the equal opposite(s) of God.

  8. Sharon says:

A fantastic video from French youth who call themselves Génération Identitaire, who are fed up with the current state of their leftist French society. These French youth realize it is up to them to repair their society that has left them with massive unemployment, massive social debt, failing multiculturalism and extreme racism.

Haven’t watched it yet, but thought I’d toss it on the table….could be interesting.

….wow…’s a portion of the transcription

    We are Generation Identitaire.

We are the generation who get killed for glancing at the wrong person,
for refusing someone a cigarette, |or having an “attitude” that annoys someone.

We are the generation of ethnic fracture,
total failure of coexistence,| and forced mixing of the races.

We are the generation doubly punished:| Condemned to pay into a social system
so generous with strangers it becomes| unsustainable for our own people.

Our generation are the victims of the May ’68′ers| who wanted to liberate themselves

  9. Sharon says:

obama making the world safer for sharia.

The American people deserve to know, as the main focus of the Benghazi investigation, whether our government’s political correctness and ideology have gone beyond negatively affecting the conduct of our diplomacy and defense to the point of actually sympathizing with our enemies. PJ Media’s Roger L. Simon dared mention the “t-word,” leaving us to contemplate where the fuzzy line between treason and sympathy begins and ends — and when that question will be officially raised.

  10. doodahdaze says:

I have been trying to find out if the GOP HR has de-funded anything. So far no luck. They seem to want to fund everything at slightly lower levels than Obama. In other words increase spending on everything but not as much as Obama. That seems to be an endeavor in futility. This week I changed my voter registration from Republican to Independent. They are not floating my boat at any level. There is no truth in their talking. Since a 3rd party is also futile, I will search for a joke candidate like Pat Paulson next time. It would be more fun than promoting the next designated loser.

  11. stellap says:

“Most politicians, as they become older, become more skilled in compromise. The sacrifice of what were once deeply held, and prominently advertised, convictions troubles their consciences less and less; it certainly leaves no moral imprint. In an age when many politicians have ceased to have a life outside politics, survival and the retention of power become paramount. What in normal society would constitute shameful duplicity is, by a modern politician, executed shamelessly: nobody expects better of them, least of all themselves, and they do not therefore disappoint. Retreating from principle, bending, concealing or sometimes even abandoning the truth are normal, everyday activities. Anyone who points out the depravity of such behaviour is seen as painfully unsophisticated.”

    • texan59 says:

My only contention to this is that it only seems to come from one side. Name some legislation that Teddy or John Kerry, or Patrick Leahy compromised on. Now, Lugar, Hatch, Spector and John McCain, among the guys in the R party, they liked to compromise. Then they got to go to all the really cool parties. 👿

  12. stellap says:

    Something slightly more uplifting:

Even though the American Revolution is the only durable success among the Big 3 — ours, the French, and the Russian — the intellectual elites on both sides of the Atlantic rarely admit that America is the only truly revolutionary country in the world, and they routinely reserve the term for Russians, Cubans, Iranians, and even Chinese. No matter that they are all failures, and that the only good news from those unfortunate countries is the result of the occasional leader — the great bridge player Deng Xiaoping, for example — who emulates American revolutionary principles.

  13. doodahdaze says:

The GOP-E is already trotting out JEB BUSH!!!!

    • texan59 says:

We will see a steady stream of milquetoast being trotted out weekly for the next two years. This will give the media an opportunity to espouse their greatness – Bush. Or, their idiocy – Rubio. Get ready to be pizzed off for the next 3 1/2 years.

    • Arkindole says:

The can trot him right back. Talk about a death wish…
BTW: Article II, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution:
“No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; …”
The idiots that are just saying “Make it so number 1” really have to stop this lunacy.
      Micturating in the wind…

56,000 *reserves* have been called up so far; this is in addition to the standing troops of IDF.

1:58 PM Regarding the earlier update about the 9 Cabinet Ministers meeting — the meeting will be at 2;30 PM at the Kiriya in Tel Aviv, and was planned before the attack today in Tel Aviv. Therefore, the original intention was probably to discuss the cease fire…though now it will center more on the Tel Aviv attack.

I want to wish all a very Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy these few days with your “real” family, as crazy as they may be. Remember, the holidays are when we put the fun in dysfunctional! Blessings of bounty to you all. See ya in a few days! 😀

  19. ctdar says:

A relative sent this around to our family and I wanted to share to thank all at the Tree:

“Charles Plumb, a U.S. Naval Academy graduate, was a jet pilot in Vietnam. After 75 combat missions, his plane was destroyed by a surface-to-air missile. Plumb ejected and parachuted into enemy hands.
He was captured and spent 6 years in a communist Vietnamese prison. He survived the ordeal and now lectures on lessons learned from that experience.
One day, when Plumb and his wife were sitting in a restaurant, a man at another table came up and said, “You’re Plumb! You flew jet fighters in Vietnam from the aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk. You were shot down!” “How in the world did you know that?” asked Plumb.” “I packed your parachute,” the man replied.
Plumb gasped in surprise and gratitude. The man pumped his hand and said, “I guess it worked!” Plumb assured him, “It sure did. If your chute hadn’t worked, I wouldn’t be here today.”
Plumb couldn’t sleep that night, thinking about that man. Plumb says, “I kept wondering what he might have looked like in a Navy uniform a white hat, a bib in the back, and bell-bottom trousers. I wonder how many times I might have seen him and not even said “Good morning, How are you?” or anything because, you see, I was a fighter pilot and he was just a sailor.
Plumb thought of the many hours the sailor had spent on a long wooden table in the bowels of the ship, carefully weaving the shrouds and folding the silks of each chute, holding in his hands each time the fate of someone he didn’t even know.
Now, Plumb asks his audience, “Who’s packing your parachute?” Everyone has someone who provides what they need to make it through the day.
Plumb also points out that he needed many kinds of parachutes when his plane was shot down over enemy territory—he needed his physical parachute, his mental parachute, his emotional parachute, and his spiritual parachute. He called on all these supports before reaching safety.
Sometimes in the daily challenges that life gives us, we miss what is really important. We may fail to say hello, please, or thank you, congratulate someone on something wonderful that has happened to them, give a compliment, or just do something nice for no reason. ”

I am sending you this as my way of thanking you for your part in packing my parachute!
     Happy Thanksgiving!

  20. Sharon says:

The Congressional Budget Office predicts that 23 million people who don’t have health insurance now will get it on one of the exchanges. More than 18 million of them will qualify for a federal subsidy averaging $6,000 a year per person. People earning up to four times the federal poverty level can get a subsidy: that’s an income of $92,000 a year for a family of four.

That last sentence is disgusting….so every person on medicare/SS who lives on an income of below $92,000 is due a(nother) federal subsidy as well? That is just disgusting…I see LC recommends that we all drain the system as fast as we can to take it down. I really have trouble getting in that mindset.

—just think about how that “subsidy” is produced:

    The subsidy, as I understand it, comes from taxpayers who are already UNFAIRLY taxed out and maxed out, if they haven’t already lost their job;

    ….the subsidy is being run through the IRS which will soon have their checking account numbers, and which will also be FORCING THEM to pay an annual fine in the thousands of dollars if they don’t manage to have enough money left over to pay 4X more for their OWN healthcare as they did last year;

….and since the government can’t manage its own affairs so as to have revenue match expenses, the “subsidy” will be a result of increasing the monetized (never-to-be-repaid) national debt,

….which is kept afloat by kiting funds through the borrowing from any nation that is still willing to “lend” us money (what they’re doing in lending us money is more like rent-to-own since it can never be paid in the lifetime of anyone now alive, as I undersatnd it)

….so go through all those twists and turns–and YUP! It’s a SUBSIDY!!!!!! Yea!!!!!!! 👿

  21. ytz4mee says:

Finally, the way the Fed has engineered the Slow Burn to date is to continually offset monetary inflation with labor deflation. It is worth contemplating how much labor deflation will be required to offset QE3 and how sufficient additional labor deflation might be engineered.

    • Sharon says:

If a normal person tried to use this kind of tortured process to account for the fact that “they never have enough money” ya think they could still get another loan at the bank? Lucky for the feds, they’re not accountable.

      • ytz4mee says:

I wish I had saved the article which explained quite nicely how they plan to confiscate the wealth in private pension plans – 401(k)’s, IRA’s, etc. They will get people to voluntarily surrender them under the guise of economic security from the predations and uncertainty of the markets in exchange for “safe” government annuities. As one commenter put it – they will convince the sheep to not only willingly hand over their fleece, but their hides, too.

        • Sharon says:

It’s astounding how little the concept of personal property is recognized in everyday dealings. “Personal property” was not a phrase that was ever used in our family or home…but a recognition of the fact of personal property is exactly what drove all the guidelines of everyday life:

“don’t take that, it’s not yours”

“what were you doing across the fence on Holger’s field?”

Don’t take other people’s stuff and stay off their property unless they’re home and you’re invited…..the recognition of “personal property” was soaked into our everyday lives.

          • ytz4mee says:

Yep. And the Founding Fathers recognized that a keystone responsibility of the government was to safeguard individual property rights.

Fast forward to today, when the shallow and overindulged feel the core role of government is to confiscate individual property for redistribution to the undeserving.

  22. doodahdaze says:

Well looks like BiBi caved in to Obama and the Muslim Brotherhood. In the end Israel will be toast…literally.

  23. smoothcriminal says:
“SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco shed a vestige of its free-spirited past as local lawmakers narrowly approved a citywide ban on public nudity.”

“Supervisor Scott Wiener introduced the ban in response to”….wait, whats his name? Wiener?
“escalating complaints about a group of men whose bare bodies are on display almost daily in the city’s predominantly gay Castro District”

Wiener said. “It’s very much a, ‘Hey, look what I have’ mentality.”

  24. cajunkelly says:

The ignorant tw*t made it to The Today Show (MSNBC) and (shock!) they were rough on her.

Turns out she’s THIRTY, which to me makes her actions even less forgiveable.

I’m still seething over this. Yeah, she has freedom of speech/expression, but she doesn’t have freedom *FROM* repercussions.

I think she should have to bed-bathe soldiers who have been severely wounded, and/or paralized veterans….for FREE. Of course she’d have to be closely monitored, as I’m not sure she wouldn’t try something to disrespect them physically.

I dislike that *she* is the focus of most of the fury. Let’s not forget/forgive the ignorant tw*t who took the picture, thereby guilty of complicity.

    • Sharon says:

OTOH, CK, if I had a veteran relative who was needing bed-bathing, I would not want her anywhere near him–certainly not to touch him to wash him. “Extending dignity” and respect comes from the inside. No matter what she does on the outside to make money off this or clear of it, I never want her touching any veteran that I care about.

When I was 17, I had a job as a nurse’s aide. Every night 3-4 of us gave bedridden elderly baths or washups each night as we tucked them in. There were 36 people on the floor, all bedridden, Dear old Mr. Winger–I don’t know if he was a veteran or not–but as a 17 year old I washed him and helped him with the utmost respect. No one had to tell me to be very careful of his dignity. It came from the inside.

      • GracieD says:

Sharon, you are absolutely right about respecting a person’s dignity. I was taught that at an early age. It was taught in the home and at Church. That is not to say that the non-religious are not reapectful of the dignity of others. I simply was taught respect at home, and in Church.

  25. cajunkelly says:

I reckon he got his permanent reservation at the government teat:
