Given Fast and Furious, the Obammydon’tcare Act ruling, and news of crime running higher than normal, I’m all for Texas dropping out:

    Dear Rick Perry,

I don’t ask for much in life, but it’d be pretty damn sweet if we could just secede from the U.S. We have quite a few Fortune 500 companies here, I believe we comprise most of the military, and we can toss out all libs and become a safehaven for all conservatives and libertarians. I see no reason why that wouldn’t be a good idea.

Please give some serious thought in this.

P.S. Kiss my ass for supporting Dewhurst. He sucks and you know it.

Amen, Hub – and yee haw. Do not even get me started on voter ID, the safer-than-ever-before border, and the EPA. The rant would run right off the page. 👿

        Hells! Yeah!

When David Crockett was screwed over by the Jacksonians and betrayed by his friends, he said the hell with it and not only came down to Texas but fought for our independence.

“You may all go to hell. I’m going to Texas.” — David Crockett, November 1835

    Love it! 😀

IMO Texas may be first in a growing line.

I don’t get it. Can someone explain for us non-Americans?

    • WeeWeed says:

It’s mostly a Texan joke, Caspar. Except we may not be joking. 😀

    • aliashubbatch says:

The design of the Texas flag is the little portion of the US flag that was clipped out, that is the joke.
Rick Perry has told the media once before how he gets letters requesting that Texas secede and become its own nation once more.

    • elvischupacabra says:

Texas was an independent Republic before joining with the US. It was never a territory, nor did it lose its public lands when it joined with the US, which has been a great benefice to the people of Texas. (There is no BLM land in Texas!) Some folks, mostly Yankees (no offense), have even suggested that we Texans have a certain swagger, an attitude of being different. To that, we plead an unashamed, “Guilty as charged!” Nowhere else do you see other states’ flags displayed so prominently and used in so many motifs and designs. I don’t know where you live, but get on over here as soon as you can and visit us. You’ll love it.

For those who might have missed it on the OT, here is what Teh Won and his crony cowboy pulled on us the other day. 30 year moratorium on offshore drilling. If you are in the oil business, know anyone who is, use any petroleum products, buy gas or drive a car, this might just affect you too! 👿

  7. Rum says:

The State song is “The Yellow Rose of Texas”. As a matter of history, her name was Emily and she performed the duty of “distracting” Gen. Santa Anna as the Texians prepared to attack his forces at the battle of San Jacinto. Which they won in 15 minutes; thereby changing history on a grand scale.
And it so good that Texas was never a territory. In short hand it means that there is hardly any federal land in Texas. The BLM hardly has an office here. So we are not surfs living on the Federal Overlords Plantation like in every state to the west. A person can own a lot of land here. You do not have to lease it from the BLM.
Where I live the weather is brutal in the summer. Whatever… But this is Texas. An ambitious kid with no degree and lots of computer savvy does not have to live in his mothers basement and do nothing but fap to internet porn. He might, for example, end up working in the IT department of a mid sized oil company and make more money than a whole room full of Sociology Majors.

  8. Rum says:

The Secession meme is lame. Thru out the wars of the 20th century, volunteers from Texas have died in combat at a rate about 50% above per capita than other states. I mean, fighting for the USA.
