The Insufferable Left: Atheist Leader Complains About U.S. Troops Praying Together Before Combat Missions…

(CNSNews.com) — The man pushing to get the military to install “atheist chaplains” in the armed forces told government-subsidized National Public Radio that military officers should not be praying with their men before going out on missions.

Jason Torpy, president of the Military Atheists and Free Thinkers Association, told “All Things Considered” over the weekend about an incident in 2003 or 2004, in which his commander gathered his team together to pray before the Army unit deployed — rather than make preparations for the mission.

NPR: Can you give some examples of where as an atheist, as a humanist, you felt left out?

TORPY: Going on a military mission, for example, we were getting ready to roll out. And ‘Everybody come in.’ So as the commander of this convoy (said), ‘Everybody come in and we’re going to do a prayer first together.’ We’re not going to talk about communications, we’re not going to talk about route planning, we’re not going to talk about first aid, we’re not going to talk about maintenance.

TOPRY: So I had to opt myself out of that situation, to ‘out’ myself because this commander took it upon himself to have a personal religious activity in the midst of a military mission.

NPR: You didn’t participate?

TOPRY: No.

Atheist chaplains??? An oxymoron if ever I heard one. I’d be curious to know how many are in this idiot’s “military atheists” organization. Maybe just one… Topry.

  3. Let me get this straight. Topry is ok with the firefights and picking up body parts after bombings, but being on the outside of a prayer circle makes him all weepy? So, he’s got principles and stuff, just too chickehs#!t to stand up for ’em without whining and making everybody else change. Typical liberal. Go hang with the Coptic Christians being slaughtered all over North Africa right now, and maybe learn how real persecution feels. Asshole.

I am a little confused by Topry and even more so as to what an atheist chaplain is.Whereas, traditionally a chaplain is a minister in a specialized setting such as a priest, rabbi, pastor, inman or lay represenative of a religion. The function of a military chaplain is to provide pastorial (spiritual) and emotional support to service personnel.Accordingly, there is no definition for an atheist chaplain or minister.Oh wait a minute Tropy was broadcast on NPR radio the George Soros broadcasting system that explains the hypocracy.

Of course, we are all surprised that a noteworthy news agancy such as NPR covered this story. I’ll bet you that some idiot somewhere is seriously going to advance the cause for an atheistic chaplain. You can’t make this stuff up.

They can try, but if the Wiccans et al don’t have chaplains (which they don’t for technical reasons), the atheists are outta luck. Not gonna happen.

Which makes me happy, because Whiny-Atheist-Tears taste like champagne. . .
