The ignorance in the Administration’s position on Energy defies logic….  (CNSNews.com) – When asked why the Obama administration opposes drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) given the rising cost of gasoline, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar told CNSNews.com that the “drill, baby, drill program” is not going to lead the United States to energy independence. CNSNews.com asked Salazar, “Given the rising cost of gasoline why is the administration opposed to drilling in the arctic refuge?”

“We don’t believe that you need to drill everywhere and  that we need for America or that will power our economy and that’s why the President has been so clear from day one and we in the Department of Interior have been so clear that what we need to do is need to have a robust energy program that includes a number of different sources of energy and while yes, we are pushing forward with oil and gas development both offshore and onshore which was the subject of much of the hearing today, we’re also moving forward with renewable energy,”

…he told CNSNews.com after testifying before the House Natural Resources Committee about his Department’s FY2012 budget.

“The President has said we are supporting nuclear, we’re supporting other clean air energy forms and at the end of the day, this is a place where there is hope that perhaps some of the Republicans in the House would come together and say that we can move forward with energy legislation that moves us into this new energy future.”

Salazar was also asked what the White House is saying about drilling in the Gulf. (read more)

When ever I read an official statement from a professional politician I have a habit of reversing the negatives to read another perspective of the intent within their statement.  One of the reasons I enjoy doing this is because it drives the lefties nuts and instead puts the framing of their adversity into a context of what they are advocating.   They don’t like that at all.   In this example if you take the quote from Salazar “we don’t believe that the ‘drill, baby, drill’ program is the way that’s going to get us to the energy independence“…  Following his logic, but reversing the negatives puts it another way where he is saying “we believe the absence of drilling will insure our energy dependence”.   Can you see the insanity of their logic?   Not drilling for oil retains our energy dependence, and to the White House this somehow makes sense.

Keep in mind our present reliance upon foreign sources of oil is largely a result of decisions made 60 and 70 years ago, when it became clear we could obtain and transport sweet oil from the middle east, cheaper than it could be explored for here in the states….and we would not use of U.S. resources in the process.

In today’s world,  and for the past 25 years or so, environmentalists have so dominated the energy political agenda, that much exploration and development has been put on hold even as technologies and safety techniques have improved dramatically.

Then came the BP Gulf disaster. It was just what this administration was hoping for; and just what CEO’s throughout the oil and gas industry were fearing. This administration is not simply environmentalist-friendly, it is openly hostile to fossil fuel energy development  AND it is wrong to the maximum degree possible.

We are diminishing national security, slowing economic growth, and hurting the fiscal situation of counties, states and the U.S. itself with our present policy of simply “NO” to all fossil fuel development (as well as nuclear, by the way).  Just think of the jobs that could be created, the genuine economic growth that could be engendered, and even the tax revenues that could be generated with a different set of policies. One has to wonder what level of “dumb” is keeping things as they are, OR one has to wonder if it is all on purpose.

Even if we follow their conclusion and we won’t achieve energy independence, which, by the way, I disagree with….SO WHAT!  Utilizing our own resources and starting down the road will create construction, support, and infrastructure jobs.  Not just highway “shovel ready” jobs from the not-so-stimulus.   Any aggressive move on our part towards energy independence sends a message to the world that we, the largest consumer of oil, will be exiting their market unless they play fair and honest with the cost of goods.

Brazil is right in their approach to gaining energy independence by utilizing a considerable amount of biofuels from sugar cane and pumping oil like crazy from their coasts and SELLING IT.   Meanwhile we are lending money to Mexico, at low rates, for them to drill for oil in our gulf area!   Obama has been trying to dismantle this country from the beginning.   He is not the U.S. president, he is not looking out for our specific national interests, he wants to be president of the global collective.
