There are many people who don’t support July 4th, America’s birthday.  They simply hate everything this nation stands for and they don’t believe in an exceptional America.  As a consequence, for them, July 4th represents everything they despise.
Patriotic Cowboy KidThere was a time when those voices were few and far between; we used to call them the radical left or the far left.  Unfortunately, with the growth of the political left, and the growth of the institutional leftist constructs pushing out the center-left, the anti-American sentiment is now the populous sentiment within the largest elements of the Democrat party.
It’s now generally accurate to say Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders supportive camps are within the grouping who hate America; at least by the same scope they hate religion, any references to Christianity, the U.S. flag and the U.S. military writ large.
A gradual erosion of pride has given way to a daily onslaught.  It’s has only taken about a generation of anti-Americanism to infect large parts -perhaps most parts- of the Millennial generation; although the initial advocates still attempt to cloud their hatred under the auspices of various social justice endeavors.
Democrats in large part have always tried to hide their anti-American brethren, but in the past decade they are loud and proud about their hate, especially when they are in large groups.  Think of pro-American historical societies and try to find a democrat amid the organization; they just don’t exist.  The mere existence of the original free and independent colonies is antithetical to the left’s preferred historical script.
In many ways, that’s why we should celebrate our Independence Day even more.  It’s increasingly more important to highlight a sense of patriotic pride and not let the institutional left define national pride, nationalism, as a negative attribute.
U.S. Republican presidential candidate Trump hugs a U.S. flag as he takes the stage for a campaign town hall meeting in DerryPut out the flag, teach your children and grandchildren what each star and bar represents. Wear your patriotism on your sleeve, and push back against those who would diminish the incredible constructs of this great and powerful nation.
Donald Trump says: “Make America Great Again”!
And each time Mr. Trump says that I remind myself:
Someone else gives a damn about America, without apology; which is more valuable to me in a President than a perfected highly-rehearsed skill set of 30 second sound bites and white paper policy instructions.
From my perspective any average hard-working American could do better than any other candidate, all of them.  Many people, heck, many on our own team, together with the media, want to go down the intellectual superiority path… but, well, that stuff is essentially useless.

  • Florida Power and Light won the prestigious International Edward Demming award for excellence in multi-platform engineering and efficiency superiority. They didn’t blow every PhD intellectual out of the water with slide rules, CAD programs and engineering acumen. They did it with hard hats and dirty fingernails.

Because they lost the award, Japanese industrialists spent 6 months studying FPL and later published a 1,000 page dissertation essentially saying FPL “wasn’t really good, they were just lucky”.
FP&L engineers and field leadership laughed, took out markers and wrote on the back of their hard hats: WE’RE NOT GOOD, WE’RE RUCKY….
trump hard hat

  • When every single Kuwaiti oil field was blown up by Saddam Hussein, they said it would take 5 years to cap them all off and restart their oil pumping industry. The Kuwaiti’s and Saudi’s called Texans, who had them all capped and back in working order in 10 months.

America.  We are a nation that knows how to get shit done.

  • When the Northern Chile mine workers were trapped two miles underground, they said no-one could save them. Who did they call for help? A bunch of hick miners from USA coal country who went down there, worked on the fly, engineered the rescue equipment on site, and saved everyone of them.

That’s our America.

  • When a half-breed Islamic whack job, armed with an AK-47 and a goal to meet his virgins, began opening fire on a train in France the Americans on board didn’t run to the nearest safe room and hide themselves amid baguettes and brie. They said “let’s go”, and beat the stuffing out of that little nut with a death wish.

France honor
Legion d’Honneur or not, that’s us.  America. That’s just how we roll.
Lady Liberty can stroll along the Champs-Elysées with a swagger befitting Mae West because without her arrival they’d be speaking German in the Louvre.
Yet for the better part of the past decade a group of intellectual something-or-others have been selling a ridiculous tome that it’s better to be sitting naked around a campfire eating sustainable algae cakes and picking parasites off each other.
Enough.
When I hear Donald Trump say “Let’s Make America Great Again”, I also hear the familiar echo “cowboy up” people.
It’s high time we stop being embarrassed about our exceptional nature, and start being proud of it again.   Because when it matters most, when it really counts, when it’s really needed, there’s a whole bunch of people all around this world of ours that are mighty happy when American swagger walks in to solve their problems.
Yeah, “let’s make America great again”.  Swagger on !
We are still in the majority.
Complacency serves no-one.
