bacon turkeyOkay Treepers, time to pull out those cookbooks and dust them off, flip through those well worn pages and share your family favorites with us. No matter what Zurich Mike says, bacon does not have to be an ingredient for you to share with us.

We always get some great recipes, old and new, everything from appetizers on through the main course. It’s wonderful to see such delicious recipes, shared with a memory or two of things gone by. We also get some new ideas each year as people try something different, and new traditions and favorites are discovered.

Last year we had some really great recipes posted, including a link for my personal favorite, Uncle Jack’s Whiskey Brined Turkey. Here is the link if you’d like to check out last year’s post.

This year I have found a new treat I want to introduce you to. In a very serendipitous way I recently learned about a Danish treat called aebleskiver. I was fascinated by the description of how they were prepared in a special pan, usually made of cast iron, and the many variations you can make. Apparently it is a great favorite on Christmas, but this year I think I might fix aebleskiver as a breakfast treat to go with our coffee, and hold us over until the big feast starts. Sharon remembers these from her childhood, and she says they are worth learning to make. Here’s a video with a recipe that sounds just delicious.
