If you are sending us an email, please consider and observe the following guidelines:

  • Please identify yourself by your Treehouse user name in the subject line so we don’t have to guess regarding the origin of the information.
  • If you are sending a link please include a paragraph that explains why the link is being sent. It is not possible for us to click through dozens of links every day and then try to decipher why this particular one was forwarded, whether it connects to one of ten to twenty daily posts made, and how it might be useful.
  • If you believe the contents of your email are of general interest to Treehouse readers, consider posting the information on the open thread or related posts where it will be available to our readers immediately.

We appreciate the clarity of some emails – certainly not every email received is lacking in context. Unfortunately, the majority are, which makes it far less likely that the contents will be seriously reviewed or  seen as helpful.

If your comment has gone to moderation, please do not post additional comments wondering why. That happens frequently (even to old timers) for reasons we are never able to identify, and it will be released as soon as possible. Patience is appreciated. Sometimes it has been caught in spam along with a thousand or more other comments (daily) and we fish them out as fast as possible.

Example from today: In two passes of clearing spam, I did a permanent delete on over 500 items – two of which were regular commenters’ shares. Those two were only found by scanning through twelve pages of porn and ads for ripoff Gucci bags and when they were discovered,  re-marking them as non-spam, which sends them to the moderation que from which they will have to be released again.

Other mods do far more of the spam/moderation releases that I usually do. Just know that your comment may be among the thousands and thousands they are dealing with on a daily basis .

With ongoing violent events that document the racial divides in the news and in the nation we predictably experience an increase of either sly or obvious racial rants, generalizations, and name-calling.

Those will get you noticed and not in a good way. Some of our regular readers seem to feel a need to go there because they’re upset at the day’s news and then new readers (we had over a million hits one day last week, so – yes – there are hundreds of thousands of new readers) may feel like that is normal and accepted here. It’s not. Please find some other way to deal with your frustration or fear.

Thank you for your help
