(Via The Hill) New details about the pair of men who crashed outside the gates of the National Security Agency’s headquarters and sparked a shooting on Monday morning indicate that the incident was more a tragic mistake than a threat to national security.

Both men were “dressed as females” when they approached Fort Meade, Md., the FBI’s Baltimore office said on Tuesday, however their attire was “not in an attempt to disguise themselves from authorities.”

Agency guards opened fire on the vehicle to force it to stop, killing the driver. The FBI on Tuesday identified that man as 27-year-old Ricky Shawatza Hall. The bureau declined to identify the passenger, who is being treated at a local hospital.

“There is no information being released at this time regarding motive, however FBI Baltimore does not believe this is related to terrorism,” the agency said.

The details appear to match reporting by The Washington Post and The New York Times on Tuesday morning, which indicated the pair of men were the victims of a wrong turn. (read more)
