Progressive Waste – A Federally Subsidized National Head Start Program

Krauthammer: I find this amazing. First of all, just hearing him say every first grader in America has to be prepared for a high-tech economy, that is a bit early, I think. The other part of this is here we are with $16 trillion in debt, a trillion dollars a year of deficits. We have created already, with under Obama, the biggest entitlement in 50 years. And now he wants to create a new entitlement for preschool for every 4-year-old in the country.

The worst part of this, this isn’t just any new entitlement. This is an entitlement in an area where we know the $7 billion a year that we spend on Head Start doesn’t make any difference after the third grade. There is a study that HHS has done that showed that. So it’s failure and yet he wants to double down and to make it universal. That’s probably a definition of a liberal.

This is about the creation of thousands of new union jobs and increasing the democratic tax base. It is about what you can sell to the public to meet your objectives. Why do all the big blue states have megga billion dollar rail systems in the works? Because they can sell this union jobs to the public as good for you.

I’m confused. Are we talking about EVERY child? Yours, mine, your neighbor’s, Bill Gates’, so forth and so on? Or as Bret said, “every child from lower and middle class families….”

Big difference there. Not to be selfish, but one includes me and the other most likely doesn’t. Its funny how “middle class” is so subjective. According to the qualifications I would have to meet in my state TODAY to send my children to Head Start…I would have to have (are you ready for this?) eight children.

When my ONE child is off to school and I start working again, I would have to have about 12-14 children to qualify for Head Start. Uncle Sam always considers me “rich people,” though I am not…that’s why my husband and I just had one.

They really have to up those qualifications to catch me in there – when you consider I have to have a dozen more children to qualify now.

So…is this an entitlement program that I can (gasp!) actually take advantage of, or is this more of the same ‘ol, “I have to pay for you and get nothing in return?” Only this time, we’re increasing the number of people I have to pay for?

‘Cause, you know, I don’t care what Uncle Sam says every April 15…I’m far from rich. We’re ramen noodle with cut-up hot dogs kind of people.

Brain-washing is so much easier for pre-school skulls full of mush. That’s likely the reason that Head Start shows statistically insignificant variance after third grade: because Head Start isn’t about education.

My kids would never be anywhere near a Head Start program. They learn better and faster at home, from their parents – especially during the pre-school years.

I refused to send my kids to head start and it was pushed really heavily by the time my last child was old enough. I heard all the bs about how far behind he would be, yet he went into Kindergarten ahead of the head start kids. Then they started the transition class for kids coming out of kindergarten that they didn’t feel were ready for 1st grade. They tried to force that on me as well by claiming it would be better for him because his lack of head start meant he was less socially mature than the head start kids. They could never explain what the heck that even meant.
I told them my kid wasn’t going to be their guinea pig so they could get more funding so to go to the head start parents who already buy into the bs. They needed to fill that transition class and all but one of them ended up being the head start kids.
Well my kid ended up graduating with a 3.65 grade average, 1/2 of those head start kids ended up not graduating HS at all, some of them would have been almost 20 years old by the time they could graduate, after being in the transition class. Another 1/4 of them barely graduated on time and the rest did end up being over 20 by the time they graduated because they ended up being held back and repeating HS classes.

I don’t know if they even still have transition but next to head start imo it was the biggest waste of money ever.

He not doing this for the children. He, like everyone else, knows that it will have no effect at all on them. This is just another money laundering/transfer of wealth program from the taxpayers to the unions to the democrat politicians, plain and simple. It’s just another way for him and his evil buddies to get more of our money for themselves. That what Marxism is all about– simply a modernization of the feudal system. That’s all its ever been about.

Not just the unions. “No Child Left Behind” is nothing more than “No Cash Left Behind.” It is nothing but fraud on a massive scale.

“It’s a nearly $1 billion-a-year federal program aimed at helping the poorest of kids achieve academic dreams, but in South Florida those lofty ideals have been tarnished by lax accountability, spotty oversight and accusations of fraud.”

We moved from one town to it’s neighbor not so long ago when my eldest was starting 9th grade where up that time he had been a straight A+ student. His first math test in new school came back as a 56! We had never seen that number transposed before so after we picked each other off the floor it was determined that previous school system had completely bypassed a section in 8th grade math (necessary for 9th grade math) primarily so they could focus their studies on meeting the No Child Left behind Act requirements.
Long story short, new teacher understood & worked with him so he was able to catch up.

        • mcfyre2012 says:

“No Child Left Behind” can be translated literally to “Hold the smart kids back until so the slow kids can catch up.” The goal of progressive/liberals is for everyone to be equally poor and equally ignorant…except of course for the ruling party of academians (who know what is best for everyone else).

          • ctdar says:

Thats exactly what it’s about…we moved from original town because my children never brought home homework..they did it all in class while the teacher was busy helping the other students understand the study lesson of the day.

  5. brutalhonesty says:

this reminds me, so my ex g/fs daughter was telling me the other day (shes almost 9) how she voted in her school “election” for obama, then told me all these great things about obama, and all the bad things mitt romney wanted to do to us. I asked her where she learned that, she said school. I turned to my ex g/f and said “see indoctrination, its not the schools job to tell them how to think and vote” and the daughter interrupted “yeah it is”

    • auscitizenmom says:

I am glad I homeschooled my son. He didn’t get indoctrinated.

      • Actually, I have said for years that “institutionally” raising a child is not a good idea. One of the questions I got from people was, “What about his socialization?” And, they felt that a child should “learn” from being around other children his age. So, in my opinion, they thought an 8 year old should learn how to be an 8 year old. But, what they failed to realize was that he would grow up and needed to know how to act as an adult. That is what they are missing in the institutions. There are things children learn dealing with each other, but they need guidance from adults and that is what is lacking in today’s society. I am not adovcating that everyone should homeschool, but parents should be involved enough in what their children are learning to know what it is and control it. And what about so many of the teachers and their example? I am horrified at what we are seeing so much of bad behavior of the very people who should be good role models. Oops! Sorry! Stepping down from my soap box.

Back in the day, kids stayed home with Mom until kindergarten. How’d they do in school? Life?
Is preschool really necessary for success? I think not. I remember when you had to be able to read and write to get into college. 30-40% need remedial education these days. Schools are a joke. All we need to do is challenge our children, that’s what’s lacking these days. We set the bar too low.

  7. Cloudofhaze says:

This is about creating more jobs for the black women that work at Head Start. A back door redistribution of wealth. Free daycare and jobs in the black community. And before anyone calls me a racist, I’m black.

  8. Cloudofhaze says:

I have a lot more to say about this. And the whole Trayvon/ race matters. Maybe a guest post one day. I’ll say this. Blacks are isolating themselves. When the sh$t hits the fan, they’ll have no allies or excuses.
