Sunday Open Thread – February 3rd

Tomb of the Unknown ChristmasOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

I almost married a Lakota Sioux. Just keep your hands off our weapons, I have two mentioned that will be banned, two OK’d if I remove a feature or three and 3 I have no idea if they are allowed. Only three were Ok’d by her Holiness Feinstein.

The Communist Party knows they are on to a good thing with Obama. His policies are, in most areas, in lockstep with their own.

However, they don’t want to embarrass their “friend” by making the relationship too public.

Sensitive to criticisms of Obama’s Marxist past and socialist policies, the communists have even gone to the length of censoring their own website to protect the President.

    • howie says:

They don’t have to worry about that. The communists news media will cover it up for them. By never mentioning the word communist. it was changed long ago. To progressive.

“We should bear in mind that, in general, it is the object of our newspapers rather to create a sensation – to make a point – than to further the cause of truth. The latter end is only pursued when it seems coincident with the former.”
~ Edgar Allan Poe, “The Mystery of Marie Rogêt” (written in 1842)

  3. You know what is ironic?

The fact that hero Chris Kyle was murdered at a gun range simultaneously with that anti-hero of a President promoting himself pantomime-shooting at a gun range.

    God works in mysterious ways.

(Don’t quote me; Lucifer will make my life a living Hell… oh, wait.)

    • Sharon says:

Good grief. You are absolutely correct. Wow.

With the WH smart-alecky joking today about the Skeeter Obama’s shooting, I wonder….naw…they’re too dense to realize the difficulties (for them) of the juxtaposition.

      • lovemygirl says:

BTW, the photo they showed is almost horizontal. Hmm, not a huge Skeet killer, but I would not expect them to be 5 feet off the ground. If I did purchase Trout Run (next to Camp David) I might be a bit angered at shot falling on my land.

So has Trayvon calmed down after you explained the rules?

I am very sorry for these families, I can’t begin to imagine losing a child. However, they still don’t get to take away our rights because they suffered a horrible loss. They also don’t get to have their own facts.

Veronique Pozner is outspoken and adamant about the need for more gun control.

“I don’t want people to sugar coat it, I want people to know what these weapons can do,” she said, adding that her son was shot 11 times that day, his mouth and left hand had been blown away.(This is horrible, however if he had been shot at close range by a shotgun there would be worse damage, he would not have been recognizable. A small child being shot 11 times at close range with any caliber of weapon would have had severe damage.)
Emotion was tangible when David Wheeler firmly told the panel that the right to own an assault weapon was not more important than his son Benjamin’s right to life.

Teresa Rousseau has been thinking hard about the need for gun control, conflict resolution for children, and better mental health services since her daughter, Lauren, 30, a first-grade teacher, was killed in the school the morning of Dec. 14.

“I have asked the vice president (Joe Biden) to make possession of assault weapons and their ammunition a felony, with no grandfather clause, and for the government to have a buyout plan for those who own the guns,” said Rousseau, a copy editor at The News-Times.

Peter Paradis’ stepdaughter, 29-year-old Rachel Davino, was one of the six educators killed.

“If we had responsible gun ownership this wouldn’t have happened,” Paradis said at the task force hearing in Newtown. He said better education for gun owners, as well as stationing armed guards in schools, would make people safer.

“We don’t need 30-round clips to kill a deer,” he said, “and we don’t need AR-style weapons to go target shooting.” (David Wheeler’s son might be alive today if he had protection like the school is asking for now. For all the “assault weapon” comments, you don’t get your own facts, an assault weapon was not used. For the umpteenth time, .223 ammunition is not a much larger caliber than a .22. Also for the umpteenth time, the right to bear arms has zero to do with hunting or target shooting.)

  10. This needs to be repeated from the World Owner’s site.

The Chris Kyle murder is an Anti-American gun-grabber’s wet-dream potpourri of ingredients…
    SEAL dead (bonus: hero/author)
    Veteran blamed
    Gun Range
    Scary guns
    What witnesses?
There must be a Bible somewhere in the scenario that has been overlooked.

The stench even permeates down here.

IF the jackass in the WH even “honors” this Hero, it’ll be like this:
UPDATE: Obama Honored Fallen SEALs By Sending Their Parents a Form Letter Signed By Electric Pen, reported by Jim Hoft on Wednesday, August 29, 2012.

    • Sharon says:

The family’s grief has got to be made 100 X worse than “usual” because the truth is–this was a really stupid way to die. REALLY stupid.

Our DIL was stationed in Incerlik while serving with the AF on an AWACS crews–that’s at least 18 years ago. The female AF members were absolutely forbidden to step foot off the base unless accompanied by male AF members…for their own safety….whether in civilian clothing or in uniform. They ALWAYS moved in groups, whether in shopping areas, tourist areas, or whatever.

This woman was asserting, with no basis for it, that she would be the exception to the norm, that she could “get by with it” and that she could flout the normal rules of safety. I am so sorry for her family.

    • Sharon says:

Not necesarily. If the whole family is that distorted, they may just all feel real special about themselves. Self-made freaks often do. Ooops….I did the stupid. I was reacting to the headline before I read the article. blushing face here.

Alinsky was right!! Isolate! Ridicule! Marginalize!….. we’re gonna get this figured out yet. And be very good at it.

Somewhere in some office some of these stooopid yahoos HAVE to be wondering how an order not to photoshop could go so wrong. Normal living is over their heads. They have absolutely no idea that 98% of the kids in flyover country can run circles around them without even breaking a sweat. The tables are turning, and the bullies are being taken apart by those whom they have been targeting for a long, long time.

Doesn’t fix everything by a long shot, but it’s good to see.

  14. cajunkelly says:

    O…..M…..G Read this folks:

In my job I encounter *many* people who home school their children. The numbers are growing daily. Such *crap* as this makes me swear that if I had children of school age I’d damn sure home school them.
I want my grandchildren to be homeschooled….starting NOW.

  15. ottawa925 says:

Is it possible that this is the FIRST story the media is covering that involves a man who is against the Obama administration? Dykes as you may know shot and killed bus driver then took young boy into his bunker. This story tells some details about Dykes:

I notice that the articles does not give any clues as to what Dykes might be saying as to what he wants.

Don’t be surprised if a ban on bunkers is next.

  16. ctdar says:

I’ve been catching up on my reading today & can’t remember where or who posted this photo of the most outrageous & narcissistic image of Obama at the hanger when the seals bodies from the helicopter crash arrived home so my apologies for not giving credit…×200.jpg

Photo has always bugged me, not just for the disrespect (families requested no media, so no photo op yet Obama went & had photo taken & published) but look at it.
All in  silhouette, dramatic shadow lighting, but the others look like they have their hands over their heart (like the Pledge of Allegiance) yet Obama is the only one saluting? It looks like Panetta is standing next to him, he served in the military, so why wouldn’t he be saluting the Seals as well?
Seriously hope the WH  photographer watches himself after the reign as he obviously has been privy to many secrets.

  17. Does anyone have an insight into the ammo shortage. It next to impossible to find 9MM or 22LR in my town. Its been like this for months. I would have thought by not the manufacturers would have ramped up production and the shortages would have eased. Something smells fishy.

    • michellc says:

I keep asking why 22? I went back to BassPro this afternoon since they did have some, they no longer do. When I asked them they said they’re only getting in bricks now and very limited supplies and they never know if they will get any on the truck. He gave us a schedule of when the truck runs and says you need to be there about 9 in the morning for your best shot and then there is a limit one brick per customer.
I don’t necassirly need it, it’s just all my life I’ve kept stocked up on .22 and bought a box or two every now and then and now that I can’t find it, it bothers me.

I did talk to one gun shop and he told me his supplier won’t even tell him when they will have it. Wal-mart told me their warehouse was out and the company said it would be at least 6 months before they would get a shipment.
