The Yemeni Coast Guard has intercepted a ship loaded with weapons. The U.S. Navy provided help the interception in Yemen’s territorial waters. On board were surface-to-air missiles called MANPADs which are used to shoot down civilian and military aircraft. Also found on the ship were C4 military grade explosives, 122mm shells, RPGs and bomb making equipment including electronic circuits, triggers for roadside bombs and vehicle IEDs.
The vessel flew multiple flags and had eight Yemeni crew members on board, though it’s not clear what the point of origin of the ship was.
Yeah, yeah, I know – NYT – oddly enough, the stories are disappearing……

Not much out there yet, mostly just stuff the aircraft’s PIO would release. Gotta remember the F-16s been in for some 40 years now and even though those that old aren’t flying anymore the ones in the air now have a lot of time on the airframes. Obama cancelled the F-22 program and threatened to dump the F-35 too. There have been attempts to reinstate F-22 production but apparently enough Senators cannot find pork for their plate in doing so. The remaining AF and Navy fighters have racked up a ton of hours on their frames and engines and Murphy gets to claim one every now and then.

On the F16, Many responded quickly as you requested but it does appear to be bad weather and a distress call. Just an unfortunate crash from what I can piece together.
The ship intercepted is an entirely different story.
“Arms Ship Seized Off Yemen; Iran Accused”
“Yemeni forces intercepted a ship last week carrying a large cache of weapons — including surface-to-air missiles — that may have been smuggled from Iran for Yemeni insurgents, U.S. officials said Monday.”

Capt Lucas Gruenther, the pilot of the downed F-16, body was recovered yesterday in the Adriatic Sea.
Rest in Peace.
