Update on the people whose lives were destroyed by the Christmas Day tornado here: As of ten minutes ago I’ve spoken to the office’s of both of thee Senators and the Congressional rep, all of whom had to reach into their memory stores for recollection of just the event itself. Basically they said that noting can be done, read as nothing is being done. Explanations ran the gamut; that the disaster has to have an interstate component (office wasn’t sure but they thought so), that there’s a dollar amount that has to be met, that FEMA uses a formula and the levels of suffering here just didn’t make the cut, et cetera. Rep’s office offered no excuses at all once they recalled the event. Senators’ offices basically said there was nothing their offices could do but they were trying (trying my patience – drum roll, Smitty). Now if you believe for one second that two US Senators can’t get a few squirts out of the Federal money hose to help a few dozen people whose lives have been destroyed…
So, we have retirees and blue collar families whose lives and belongings have been destroyed living with friends and relatives and being assisted by their neighbors as Washington bureaucrats who don’t know or care who these people are or what happened to them deciding that their suffering does not met the levels needed for them to receive the taxpayer assistance their tax dollars paid for. Their, and your, dollars are still hosing down certain areas of New Orleans, funding a renaissance that profits pockets of the local politicians and their friends, people in New Orleans who didn’t bother to buy hurricane or flood insurance are still getting new houses paid for by YOUR tax dollars but here, in a largely rural county with some 55,000 residents, crickets chirping and neighbors helping neighbors. April 15th is coming up soon folks, try telling the Feds their situation does not warrant you paying your taxes.

Just some quick notes from what i just saw, Mr Mattioli spoke this morning in Hartford, CT in front of the gun violence task force, more solutions from mental health, lot of TV and politicians telling you how complex gun violence is…answer is lack of civility, need common decency to prevail, tv and movie violence today is disgusting.
Heartbreaking testimony from this father who struggled to keep his composure, saying society does not need complex laws regarding guns laws current laws need to be enforced, & parenting is necessary. Chicago is perfect example, no criminal pays attention to gun law, 500 murders last year. Chicago is proof that gun control does not work.
