WASHINGTON DC - … H.J.Res 15 proposes an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the Twenty-second Amendment. This would remove the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President. Rep. José Serrano (D- NY15) introduced the controversial joint resolution on Friday, the second day of the 2013 legislative session.
The last President to serve more than two terms was Franklin D. Roosevelt. Roosevelt served three full terms as President and was elected to a fourth term. Roosevelt died 83 days into his fourth term in office.
Congress passed the Twenty-second Amendment on March 21, 1947. The required number of states ratified it in 1951. There have been numerous attempts to repeal the Twenty-second Amendment, including a previous attempt by Rep. Jose Serrano. Rep. Serrano attempted to repeal the Twenty-second Amendment with H.J.Res. 5 in 2009. (read more)

At least the govtrack site says 0% chance of getting out of committee.
Thank you for writing that !
There are far too many socialists in Congress. More importantly, there are far too many people willfully blind and ignorant to the presence of openly avowed socialists in Congress.
Lot’s of people like socialism. I am not kidding. It is a sea change. They like the “fair” part. I can’t say that the voters did not know about Obama in his re-election. I think they knew and like it.
Good grief. Really?

Rep. Serrano certainly is tenacious.
And the RIght-o-sphere certainly is forgetful. I remember hyperventilating over this in 2011, 2009, and 2007. And each time later realizing that it’s the same guy with NO co-sponsors, and slapping my forehead and saying “DOH!”
He is right. This is the constitutional way to change. I will oppose his amendments but support his constitutionally correct method. As should we all.
That is just creepy.
And Imam Jawbone has been known to do this.

Another trial balloon. It reveals their intentions and goal. Juxtapost this with suggestions that we should suspend elections competely for just a little while. Remember that in November 2008 the Usurper said he intended to “rule”, not govern, but “rule”. Already he rules by executive order. Remember the Aesop tale of the Frogs who wanted a king.
Your boy in the White House may not need more than two terms to destroy America.
He just wants to stay on for all the perk$. “America’s In-laws that refuse to leave.”
Only these are OUTLAWS.
Isn’t this just a “backdoor” method of attaining the SAME results that Hitler did; absolute, ONE man rule?
I would like an amendment to force prospective voters to pass a cursory logic test before being allowed to vote.
And instead of ballots with the names of candidates, make it all write-ins. This would prevent the stupid people from voting based on simple name recognition.
All of you should go and do your research instead of wearing anti-Obama blinders. As far back as Reagan (and probably before) bills were introduced to remove term limits.
So true. I remember the talk radio (right wing blogoshephere of 1986) suggesting that saint Ronnie should have the 22nd amendment repealed so he could run again.
